Hey everyone.

I've been looking for some options for longer term feeding options for my Lorikeet. What I mean is a feeder/food source that will keep him fed during the day till night or worst case, overnight.

I have to feed my Lori usually 3-4 times a day (Small section of wet food) but will be out during the day and not sure what to do.

(My Lori isn't a huge fan of dry mix food, he avoids it if he can)

Any help would be great. :green:

Hello and welcome to the Forums to you and your Lori! What sort of lori do you have? Weā€™d love to see some pictures and know his name and more about your life together :)

You probably already know that the best all-day food option for your lori is dry mix. Anything else will spoil after a few hours and is really not feasible to be left all day or overnight. Maybe your lori just hasnā€™t met a dry mix formula that he likes yet? My purple crowned princess was brought up on a particular brand that I couldnā€™t readily find in the pet shops and didnā€™t like the stuff I bought from there, so I had to go online to buy her preferred brand. I donā€™t know where you are located but here in Australia we can also get specially formulated pelletised nectar and my little Lilly quite likes those too. Fresh water is also a must if feeding dry food.

I hope youā€™re able to find a solution that works for your lori if you must leave him for longer periods and that youā€™ll share some pics of the little guy soon :)

My guys get their fruit, nectar and then they get a dry nectar in a bowl right by another water dish. They want the water dish as close as possible because they stuck their tongues in there after they get the dry mix. Messy, but still a better option if you have to leave during the day or you need family members to care/feed your birds.

OK thanks for the tips.

Sorry I forgot to mention he is a 1 year old Rainbow Lorikeet.

Guess I will need to try other food options and maybe at a spare water if needed. :green:
