Loki Made it through the NIGHT ~~!

That's wonderful news on Loki!!!! Does he need to be on a special diet now from all of this???

If Loki does not realize what an exceptionally well loved baby boy he is, you need to teach him to read....

I hope you get a little sleep and Loki wakes up sometime soon hungry and looking for food! It is really wonderful the vet's office is so caring and doing everything they can to help Loki feel safe and get him to eat. You definitely need to post around everywhere you can what a wonderful group they are!!

I am sorry he's not eating yet, but I think you may be right, he's been thru he(( and might just need some rest and love from mom. First thing I'll do in the morning is check to see what you're update is!! Hopefully it will be that around 3 a.m. Loki woke you up demanding food :)

Hugs to you... you have plenty of us thinking about you and hoping for nothing but good news on Loki's progress.

Ty everyone your support for Loki and I have been so wonderful... Loki is sound asleep all wraped up in a blanket. The doctors here at the UT medical center are wonderful people they are open here 24/7 because it's a huge teaching hospital. Loki's doctor stayed after her shift tonight so she could spend some time with him and try and figure him out alitte. I thought it wAs so nice she came in and said you go get some dinner I'll take him with me in my office for awhile. So off he went for To play . When I came back he was running around on her desk chewing up all her Kleenex in the box ! Lol he loves those things. He had a huge mess and she was just laughing at him. She said she offered him all sorts of food again but still he just ran away playing.

I did ask about a special diet when he goes home and they are saying yes we are just not sure what yet cause it has tobe something he will eat. We are also going to cont with a specialist each week from here on for the next few months. Which will include behavior much much later on. Right now we are just going to focus on happy and healthy!

I will keep you all upto date soon as anything changes.

Well the activity and getting into things sounds wonderful!!! He just needs his belly and crop to settle. Much like us not wsnting to eat when it hurts to swallow. Hunger will win out!

Best hopes for a hungry night!!! :)

Just woke up... haven't crawled out ftom covers but had to check on Loki...

Sorry for taking so long to add a update on Loki. He did well last night, woke up a few times with some pain and upset but his meds are helping, but yet again are upseting his tummy. He was tube feed because they dont want him to get to weak. I was also able to get a small amount of baby food in him this morning.

When his meds are in feel effect he seems really happy, easy going, and willing for almost anything. I can tell when they are wearing off tho, he is very reless and whines so i think he is alot of pain this time around. So we will hang out here for awhile just to make sure things go as they need to. We sort of have our own room now. The gave us there greavance room to be in so we would be at home. He has his TV and cartoons.

He has a check up this afternoon, with the Cockatoo specialest and his doctor will be him also. After that we Might go home, or we might have to stay one more night.

My husband has Tyrion, and is hoping we get to home cause he said "how do you watch so many CArtoons !!!!!" LOL i said i house clean most of time. The birds watch T.v. Way are you not cleaning LOL I knew the answer to that one tho. I guess they watched Barbie the movie last night. I laughed at that alot ! He said tyrion was yelling Movie Movie so thats what they watched. I was inpressed when he told me he made him his rice mash meal ! Least i know he does know what to do with the birds, when im not home.

well im going to take Loki for a small walk. Talk to everyone this afternoon when i have more news. HUGS

Even a few bites of food is wonderful at this point!!! I still am so impressed and in aww of the medical group you have taking care of Loki. I love my vet and she is wonderful, but this group seems to care about Loki as much as all of us pulling for him here!!!

I am guessing your hubby is an Avengers fan?? Tell him he has the vast appreciation of Loki's Army :) If he's an Avengers fan, he'll appreciate the reference!! Let him know he's a wonderful birdie dad for watching Barbie, I think even I would suffer thru that!!!

I hope the afternoon goes great and you are packing up to head home to sleep at home tonight!!!

Hugs to all of you!!!

You guys are doing such a wonderful job getting Loki the care he needs. Kudos to both of you!!!!! :)

Did I miss an update? How is loki? Are you home?

Wow! Those vets sound amazing!! How awesome is that -they're letting you stay there with Loki! I bet he's happy to have his mommy there :)

Hay Gang, Sorry for the lack of updates when i left the house a few days ago i was not planing on being gone for 3 days LOL so i did not have a cell phone charger with me. Im lucky Loki's doctor let me use hers last night so i could have a phone today !

UPDATE TIME: We are going home !!!! Im so excited i feel like we are both getting released at this point LOL ... Loki is eating twice a day an Adult Luquid diet. Which he will be on for a few weeks. The doctor wants to keep him on this for his tummy while on the meds. he can have soft, cook mashed vegs aswell, but the have to be very bland ones like nothing that will make gas, like no beans, no corn. that sort of thing. He will also have some extra good stuff in his water, it almost akes his water look like Tang LOL, he loves it. After 10 days on the meds we will go back repeat tummy tests to make sure nothing is growing in there and infection is gone. Take a crop swab to make sure no infection there, and is nothing we will start mixed Loki's Adult liquid vet diet with 25% Blended pellets to try and get him on the pellets liquid diet. Basicy one liquid diet for the other will happen for about 1 year. Still with veggies. Fruit at this point is very limited becasue of the acid it can cause in his tummy. Durning this year we will making Weekly or by weekly trips to see our Team :D We love them so much, they are the best doctors i ever found. Loki loves them to.

What was Found in all the tests so far, that has came back. Is the c.t. scan should Loki had a nod in his Air sac, when in there looking around to remove it and sample it they also seen he has a very high number of blood cells in his air sac. where most air sacs are very clear and glossly inside, his was spotted with bloodcells. Which can mean a number of things. One is he was exposed to a fungus spore that has grown in his lungs/airsacs. Causeing extra bloodcell and can be treated but will take some time, it can be past around if loki was outside on a high polion day with the wind blowing for a long time and he got alot of polion in his lung if someone was mowing there lawn next to us ? just a forsay... Two it could be cancer.... Im hoping not on that one ! Three it could be he has been having such a high number of infections his lungs/ and airsacs have gone into over drive to work, and will came back down after about a year of being normal.

His liver is fine, kidneys are fine, heart is good, pooper is working but has "no"good bacteria so he has toa med called BacMed to add the "good" gems to his poop. the doc said in alot of cockatoo's this is a problem that they are so over driven that when they get anything wrong there poop is the first to suffer, and stops producing bacteria.

i have Pictures of use here and can post them when we get home :) I will keep everyone updated for a few more days on Loki is feeling and doing. Thank you all for your support and caring !!! Its gotten us throught the long hard nights knowing we such wonderful people cheering us on ! HUGS to eveyone.

Michelle & Loki

I'm learning quite a bit about cockatoos through your process. Thanks for sharing as I'm sure this is hard on both of you. Stay strong!!!!! ;)

While they do sound like excellent, caring vets, I'm glad Loki can go home where he belongs. Sounds like he is recovering nicely, and hopefully, this is the last of the infection. Loki sure sounds like a fighter, so I bet he will make a quick and full recovery :D

I am so happy to hear you are both going home!!! Looks like a good weekend ahead of you and Loki getting comfy and spoiled at home :)

So happy to hear that you both can come home:) Praying for a full recovery for Loki:)
