It's in reverse order here..David comes home..Missy (the gert) pays no nevermind to him..BB does his routine of flapping from my hand to Davids shoulder to tell David all about his day..in SECONDS Missy is RARWWW! RARWWW! to David...ears back. "Hey its MY time! not that pointy-heady grey thing!"

Update on RK:

Some months ago I mentioned what I thought was an injured (old injury) left wing on RK. To this day despite lots of time out to work the work the wings, RK can’t fly more than a glide from place to place. He then allows the wing to droop for a while.

RK also had bare drumsticks when he came home. Putting all these things together has made me conclude that prior to coming home, he was roughly handled to the point of injury.

No wonder RK has struggled with fear and biting. I’ve come to respect the fact that he likely won’t be one to handle by stepping up. Perhaps in time? But for now i coddle Kevin and offer food, scratches, company and shelter. He calls me every day by the nickname my daughter gave me, “Mermy.” It’s hilarious! He calls and knows I’ll come.

Why give this background story? To sensitize future parrot owners to the complicated world of parrots. They are a high commitment and a lifetime commitment.

Rant over.

Kevin is my lifetime work and friend. I feel sad life was unkind to him before us.

So well stated good friend...

We have no way to know what they have undergone... We Love them with abundance, provide them the space to open-up and endlessly test the World around them. And then, out of the blue, we find them closer to us then a few days ago... Others may see it as underwhelming, we see it as another mountain climbed... It's Heartwarming.

This is the “you are required to scratch me” position. Notice the feathers on Kevin’s drumsticks!

Aviary is now in saving mode. I don’t want to start and then stop due to finance. It may take a bit but it will get done!

PS materials here more expensive than I anticipated due to them being imported.

What do you mean by “you can’t chew that?”

Surely you’re talking to someone else...

Clearly a Styling Statement! After all, minimization is 'in' again this year!

Hmmm, there has been some rumor that tippy-toe, quick-stepping is the new version of brake dancing. But, that just a rumor heard around homes with Parrots!?!?

Yes quick stepping is definitely in when RK is roaming the floors! [emoji23]

From Greytown:

How to feel less than:

1. Spend hours preparing food.
2. Food discarded with one stink eye.
3. Spend hours preparing ways of enrichment.
4. Met with stink eye.
5. Collect chewed shoes.
6. Stink eye.
7. Cover hole in chewed table.

Life as a staff person! Yes, I know it feels like being a slave, but we willingly do this day after day in hopes for that moment of: Grace being provided from on high!!! :D

Exactly

Okay, this whole thing went wrong with that "you CAN'T" idea. Now, perhaps, if only you had used... "you OUGHTN'T, or SHOULDN'T", or...

Nevermind. Just run.

On an early morning tour of the kingdom, Kevin couldn’t resist chewing the ever so luscious foam flip flops and work out pads. Why they were delightfully mushy and fun to fling.

Why all the fuss???
