A 4 year old House Sparrow named Kiwi and a 22 year old dove named Baby
Hi there!

I thought its about time to introduce my family.

I am surrounded by testosterone. My husband, a 4 year old and a 22 year old. All of which are demanding, get loud and are always making a mess.

Our feathered family consists of a 22 year old ring neck dove.(You wouldnt know it by looking at him!) is name is Baby, because when we brought him home he was less than a year old and my soon to be turning 4 year old rescued house sparrow named Kiwi.

We found Kiwi after a summer storm, with no nest in sight and barely a feather on him. He bonded strongly to us and we knew he was not properly equipped to live in the wild. We made the decision to give him the best life we were capable of.

Together, we are a perfect balance. I am the organized and overly cautious alpha Momma bird. Poppa-bird keeps our flighty whims grounded and the flock as a whole unit. When he's working his long shifts, his absense is truly missed.

Kiwi is the spoiled brat, always bored, throwing temper tantrums and trying to be boss. While Baby is the sweet, deceptively smarter than you think, cuddle monster.

We all live in an apartment and spring is coming!!

We are very much hoping to buy our first home as soon as possible and in the meantime, keeping Kiwi busy with foraging treats, and Baby distracted is a stressfull and time consuming process.

Im happy to find an active bird forum, and although my babies are not parrots, I am sure this will be one of the best places to seek advice, opinions and share stories.

Thank you! :)

Welcome!
I love your story!
Those photos melt my heart. I hope you give us many more. I'm really overwhelmed by your little flock!
Thank you so much.

Thank you for joining and sharing your beautiful pics of Baby and Kiwi. While the name of the forum begins with "Parrot," you'll find all sorts of birds in our homes, including typically wild avians. You are absolutely welcome here!!

Welcome welcome! I had a house duck for a little while. :p when we moved to current home in current city, Gunter the house duck went north to my aunts farm where he now delights all the kids who visit. Not a euphamism for freezer camp. G-duck is very loved.

I look forward to hearing about your adventures!

Thank you all so very much for reading my introduction and offering such warm welcomes!!
To Bug_n_flock, i also had a duck when i was just a teen. I picked her up 1 hour after she hatched, brought her home and raised her as a house duck. It was the best summer I remember. She grew quick, and when it was time to go back to school, she was ready to join the ducks on a friends farm. I still think of her often. What an amazing experience and a beautiful bird she was. I would love to have property with ducks again, one day. :)
