So chichi is much better today!! I have him on my vanity dresser, however since I took this pic I have covered the mirror with a folded white sheet so he can't see himself and bond with well...himself! Lol. I think that was a big factor in the bad behavior as well. I'm learning!!

I just want to make sure the cage is the right size for him. His wings are clipped so he can't fly. But he is out most of the day. If you look he's on the perch on top of his cage to the far left. :) I just wanna be sure he has good space enough toys? Perches? Etc. I put a bowl of veggies in the bottom today not under any perches. He's munched on carrots and apples so far!!

Input is always great. And I accept constructive criticism. :) thanks!!

And...l after a bath!! He loves water! Which I read is common! If you look on the mirror by his tail you'll see he got water everywhere!!

It may just be me as my tablet doesn't have great quality but that looks like a cage meant for cockatiels so IMO its a bit too small. Could just be my tablet though

Well I'm on an iPad and it does look funky. However....can you see him? And compare the size? Also the Vanity mirror is about 3 1/2-4 ft high.

I'll see what other replies I get. And go from there tho. gpcongrats on your pregnancy tho!! I'm 6 months pregnant. :)

I had that exact cage. I purchased with my conure from the bird store. They told me it was good for him, ohhh no it wasnt LOL .I upgraded mine.. conures love to climb all over the cage, and they play like you would not believe you need like 4-5 toys for them , or they will chew perches..

IMO its to small, i also had that exact play stand omg its in pieces now i will get u a picture LOL if its new take it back, mine chewed one bar within 1 day and in 1 week it was in pieces LOL

I found both my cages on Craigslist my conure has a small parrot cage with a play area on top its about 2 feet by 3 feet and about 6ft tall including play area on top..you can get a nice used one for about 100 bux in stores that cage can run u about 300. there is nothing wrong with used cage as long as its not rusted and torn up , the people i got mine from where upgrading their cages, i did hose them off and clean thoroughly with vinegar and water

Yeah, in my opinion it's way too small (not being harsh hun). Personally, I love flight style cages and you can buy them online for like $100-150 including the shipping. Mine is 32" wide x 21" deep x 63" tall.

That is great space for toys and perches and room to move about.

If you would like some links let me know and I'll find some choices for you : )

I think hubby tossed the table top play area, the ladder on it was torn to pieces and the bars..so i cant get a pic of it LOL here is screech :orange:

Ok well for 150 for chichi and his cage toys etc. I can afford a bigger cage. That's why I was asking. It's the one they had him in. I'll def be getting a bigger one. Some idea to links would be great.

Yeah if that mirrors around 3.5 ft i'd say that cage is way too small. i agree with everyone else. Amazon has some cheap cages :)

Yes, I think it's too small unless he spends very little time inside. I think Scooter's is too small and it's 20"x18"x25". OTOH, it is actually somewhat hard to find a cage that isn't a small bird flight cage that is larger but does not have a bar spacing any wider than 5/8" -- too wide a spacing is dangerous. IMO 5/8" is kind of pushing it, 1/2" is better.

I also suspect the wire on that cage is a bit insubstantial for a GCC beak. In addition, I'm not a fan of the openings at the top like that -- if the perch is not super secure, it can fall closed and catch the bird. OTOH, if it is what he is used to, I wouldn't necessarily be in a huge hurry to change it, I'd wait until he was a bit more settled at this point.

The flight cages have size going for them, but they have some disadvantages as well. They typically lack outside-access feeder doors (an issue if you ever have a sitter come in to care for him) and horizontal bars for climbing. They also have somewhat insubstantial wire in many cases, and a 'tiel may be larger than a GCC but the beak is not nearly as powerful. Finally, they don't have seed guards, which I find help contain the fruit spatter and poop.

If he's out most of the day, that cage may be fine. If not, you may want to look for a bigger one. If you find one that is wider than it is tall, at least 24" wide and deep, has 1/2" spacing, outside access feeder doors, a seed skirt, and is constructed so that there are few crevices to catch residue, let me know!

Lol deb! If I find one I'll let you know. He is out all day. The only time I make him stay inside the cage it at night. Which so far I haven't Opened it later that 9 am or closed it earlier than 10pm. He don't try to go anywhere so I dont mind. He's in and out all day on his own. For now I'll leave it til he is more comfy I've seen a few I like. I'll post links at the end. But I really want a standing one. That way he's not on my dresser. I'm also looking for a safe, cheap, easy way to make/build a Java tree stand look alike. They are as much as the cages!! With feeder cups of course. Any ideas on that would be great as well!! Onto what I was thinking for a cage. I'll prolly order this weekend and change over when he's more settled. :) Do I just move him to the new cage cold turkey?

I know it's for multiple birds, but I'd rather sweep (our house is tile, no carpet) than skimp on size.

I moved mine cold turkey style, my conure was easy he climbed all over fast, he seemed very pleased. He was trying to get in it as i was moving his toys in and stuff being all nosey.not all birds are like that though my electus the previous owner had her in a small cage she was accustomed to it and she hated going to the big cage even though it was good for her LOL Even now i believe she is not used to the new cage because she will never open her wings inside the cage..I heard it can take like a day for them to get used to a new cage but my belief is it could take a little more time especially if they are accustom to a smaller cage

I found some huge cages on CL for cheap! Puck's main cage was $150, but retail it went for about $500, and it was plenty big for him! I could probably put an amazon in it.

Yeah I've been looking on Craigslist but there's nothing around here. There's one half style big parrot cage but it ends up being only a few inches bigger than the one he's in now. I'll keep looking.

Remy, is your name Remington??

The problem with that is usually bar spacing. It must not be wide enough that their head can fit through.

Be sure to disinfect any used cage!

Thats a good price. It is an example of a cage without horizontal bar segments, so it is much harder for them to climb on. You probably want to make up for it with lots of climbing things inside. Plus they can manage it, but Scooter loves climbing around on the sides and it is much more difficult.

I dont mind sweeping, its the berry splatter...
