So i have been pretty inactive on the forums over the past week or two. Id like to let you guys have some insight as to why i suppose. I have been dealing with a major hoarding case of over 100 animals. It is over now and the animals are all in great care, the people are being charged as well. So this and working and so on has consumed most of my time and i have just now begun to have my normal life back:).

So some of you may have read my post about baby girl and her story, well she is doing amazing and growing even more feathers. On a part of her body i thought was totally destroyed... her chest! She has a ton of pins and won all over her chest it is just amazing to see. I think it may be because i have been bathing her everday instead of like every other, im not quite sure but something has clicked for her to even grow this many on her chest. All of the other macs and other species are doing great as well.

I made some amazing progress on saturday. 2 years ago we had rescued a red bellied parrot and she was fine through the honeymoon. Then all the sudden she got very phobic of almost everything but toys and my father. So this ment i couldnt handle the bird i took in( she would fly around and would make herself bleed if i just kept going so i refrained from working with her for awhile). I held off for about 3 months letting my dad handle and leting her get over somethings. Then i began again working with her, with really now luck just that she wasnt flying around and hurting herself or screaming at me. So i kept up my little workings for over a year now. On saturday my dad had her out and i had just woken up and walked out seen billie and said hi. Usually she would have acted kinda reserved and scared still. But instead she was content so i went over and offered a hand and she immediatly stepped up and was fine:). I was thrilled.

Another thing is in PA it is 80 degrees outside and beautiful so most of the birds went outside today with me and enjoyed time out in the sun and got some great time out of the bird room. I have also been looking into multiple ways to build our outdoor aviary and believe i have a good idea brewing so lets see if the funds get put together and we can put that up for our guys:).

As well we rehomed our 2 canaries(finally) the female who was rather old ended up passing away sadly(nothing signifcant just old age). The family was willing to go get another female for the male to have and they have a huge cage and just wanted to listen and watch them. So it ended great for The remaining male and he is going to be in touch with me still. The family had a flight cage the same as mine(HQ) so they refused to take there cage just use theres, which was nice of them. Then we got a call about a white-bellied caique so it looks like the cage will be filled up again:/. Which is fine because 2 love birds will be going home directly as well.

Ok the end of my babbling i just wanted to let you guys know were ive been and give an update on stuff espically baby girl and billie:).

Hey thanks for the update :) Was worried you ran out of steam. Was it the hoarding case in Long Island ? Thought I saw parrots in carriers on the news. Thats great with Baby girl[the feathers] who knows she just might grow into the big Macaw girl she was meant to be now that she has you! Funny how long it takes with some parrots to warm up. But I believe they all do to some point if they know their loved and understood.:) Keep up the good work :)

Hey JT, if I got a big feather suit, do you think you could find me a situation like that.....I could bring my birds or leave them here...I've got an excellent bird sitter available.....

Aww weco having girl troubles that you need to dress like a bird for one? I mean I can try I'm not very good with human relationships;).

Pinky the hoarding case was in PA and in a single wide trailer at that soo no not in rhode island:p. she has always grown feathers but she is now starting to get more and more.:)

No troubles that I am aware of.....just figured that since I wasn't committed and the fact that this is a family forum, I'd try to be less obvious about seeking such gifts.....

My amazon is just messed up.... She is just a handful constantly, hormones, yelling, etc... He previous home gave her no boundaries or rules so she thinks she's queen b all the time... I need to find her a nice old lady to take her in because that is what she truly would like I believe. She loves me, but an older lady is what she had an what I'd love for her to have:p.

Thats me send her on down :)

JT do all your birds get along in the outdoor aviary? If so is it outdoors that they get along or anywhere?

Bet she will like me !! You will have to throw in Romeo too [or I could pay for him ] NO TRADES :)

JT - I'm new here and just wanted to say Hi! Sounds like you've been very busy! I can tell you care so very much. It must be hard to go into a hoarding situation and see how the animals are cared for. Anyway, sounds like some difficult situations are getting better with some of your parrot friends! That is great! Nice to meet ya!

hey Jt, surprised I didn't hear about the PA hoarder can you PM me details? I heard all about the one in Delaware and that didn't turn out so well~

Well honestly no I have so many mixed personalities so not all of them get along. My amazon and senegal do. My harlequin, one blue and gold, and greenwing are pretty social. The blue throated is a complete dominat alpha male and needs to be in charge at all times or gets... Pissed. The m2 and medium sulphur get together amazing and love running around with each other. The two eclectus are bonded so yeah they are great:p. I usually take them out on seperate play gyms and s fourth. I don't have the aviary ATM;) I will soon hopefully.

Lol you aren't gonna get Romeo unless you pry him from my cold dead hands:p, he is the most ideal cockatoo and I love him to much. Babe the amazon I love greatly but realize she could use a home with an older couple really as she likes older people it seems. But I don't think I'll be sending her to new York... Sorry;)

Nice to meet you and welcome to these wonderful forums! Thanks really when I go into a hoarding or emergency situation my mind is on nothing but bettering what the animals have so I don't get effected to greatly, I guess that is why I do them. I work at a vet clinic and so on so my tolerance for things is pretty high!

Trio this wasn't anything "big" like national news it was just in the small town in pa. And a rescue team of lancaster called cart came and responded then called me and my father to take care of the parrot end of it all.

JT - I guess you would build up a tolerance to doing that type of job. You would have too so you don't get personally attached I'm sure. It's a great thing you do, in either case! :)

Thanks! I do get semi attached, but I know how to send them to a home to. I stay in touch with most of the animals I rehome or rescue. It is great to keep in touch with past rescues as it is so fulfilling to hear how amazing they are doing:)
