African Gray
I'm hate to say it, but I'm having to rehome an African Grey. He's (assuming Jango is a "he") about 20 years old and belonged to my son who has had to move across the country. Jango has been living with me for a while and we've been trying to become friends, but my dog is not a fan (not to mention bullies Jango relentlessly and teases him about being in his cage) so Jango no longer gets any time outside of his cage and doesn't seem very happy (and doesn't appear to like me either). If there's any interest in adopting Jango, I live in the DFW, TX area and would love to find someone who will give him a happy home.

An African Grey in good feather is a steal.

Make sure you well vet anyone you consider giving this bird to.
Ideally a forever home, without dogs.

Hi,
Please ask your avian vet if they know someone willing to adopt Jango. Avian shelters/foster homes are other options. African Grey's are highly intelligent and sensitive. Jango won't understand why he's leaving his home IMO, thus making sure he's going to a reputable organization is important.
Here's a link you may want to contact them to see what they advise for him: https://www.adoptapet.com/shelter/83597-birdlink-sanctuary-inc-burleson-texas.
A Helping Wing Parrot Rescue in NJ may be able to refer to someone in your area as well: 845.475.8249 (phone).

Greys are one of the species considered a 'dusty' bird and that dust causes Pulmonary Hypersensitivity Syndrome in Macaws which does cause death. Your 2 Mac were there first so they should stay and just love Greys from a distance (your MIL's). Even people that used air purifiers have lost their birds due to the dust. Unless you have 2 separate heating/air conditioning systems in your home, which most people do not, nothing is safe enough, not putting them on opposite sides of the room, sperate rooms or even on opposite ends of the house as the dust will circulate. Sorry

I want a companion so bad I would take e if you would let me

There are a ton of perfectly good parrots at local shelters. They do thorough home visits, and applications for their parrots. They go through many questionnaires that are very important before taking on a perplexing parrot thatā€™s full of personality.

Be very careful before adopting out your grey. There are bird flippers out there, and greys are highly sought after.

I live in PA but I have my home available to those who need a soft place to land. I do not sell nor adopt out. I keep previous owners in contact of how the bird is doing in my care. I have African grey experience and would love to help if you let me.

I can not recall a time in my life that I was not in the company of CAGS.
My parents still have my "3 feathered siblings" (45-50 years old).
I have one 18 year old Congo African Grey that I hand raised named Greysea. ā¤ļø. I'm in Oklahoma and have numerous references.

I live in spring tx. I visit my sister in Dallas occasionally. I had took in a quaker parrot 4 years ago. His owner passed away suddenly and so he was bounced around my husband's family until I met him and fell in love instantly. Gave him a better life and we loved him deeply. He passed away on October 4th. I held him all night until his very last breath. I am devastated over it, I want to give another bird a good life. After learning so much about how often they are rehomed and knowing the bond between a bird and human I couldn't get a bird from breeder. There soo many that are being shuffled it makes my heart hurt. I would love to give him a mostly cage free life. I can drive up to Dallas that is not a problem.

At my vet this morning for non birdie visit. This was a topic that we covered. There's a segment out thers that 'offer to give good home' for birds especially greys, cockatoos and Amazons. These are highly desirable especially when video posts are seen. Drugging isn't unheard-of! Take as much time as you can. A 20 yr parrot is going to be less flexible in adapting. My grey holds grudges when her cage is relocated. Contact local vets in your city, especially exotic vets. They may be able to help.
