Its Metal Poisoning

We went to visit her after work yesterday, the traffic was heavy and it took us an hour and 15min to get there. That left us with only 15 minutes to spend with her - but it was still worth it!

She looks so much better, no shivering just a couple of fluffed feathers. :D She couldnt wait for us to open her cage and immediately jumped in my arms. After we said all our halos she climbed on my shoulder and 'flew' towards the door as if she was saying: "Come-Come mommy lets go".

I am very impressed with the 'hospital', all the cages were clean, heaters were going and fruit, veggies and pellets were in the bowls. We also spoke to Dr. Russell and he invited us with when he did his rounds giving them all their meds. He is really a nice guy and it was very clear that he loved all the animals.

He said that she can come home Monday night.

Yes yes yes, that makes me so happy

3 more sleeps Linky, then your baby is back home "screaming".
Our prayers have been answered

Woot! I'm so glad she's doing so well. You're lucky to have such a great doctor close at hand.

Thank God you were persistent as you saved your bird's life.

THAT is thanks to Antoinette that directed me into the right direction. (There is not smily that shows enough appreciation)

YOU ARE MOST WELCOME LINKY

Read through a previous post "Deworming yes or no?"
my first visit ever to Dr Russell.
When I first met Dr Russell, I picked it up immediately that he had such a love for animals. The way he handled :grey: really touched me.
He chatted to Steven and I for about 2 hours, given me great advise, telling me so many "stories" about birds he has treated etc.
I felt so privileged just listening to him

Back from my Sat. visit and she is doing really well! I am glad to see that she is feeling like herself again, she tore the box that we brought for her on Thursday and made a nice hide out of it. Dr. Russell is not too impressed cause he needs to get her out of there 3 times a day! I am with Sterretjie on this one - it keeps her busy - leave the box.:p

I really broke out in laughter when I walked into the 'hospital' and saw that Sterretjie was 'gone'. I called her and she popped her head out, saw it was me and climbed out of her hide. Precious girl!:D

Great pictures, wonderful vet, dedicated fidmom. I am starting my day with a smile. Thanks for sharing your journey as it is heartwarming and educational. Let us know how Monday goes!

Sterretjie sure is a mischievous little character. She seems quite "at home", looking great and healthy. The pictures say a thousand words.

My guys took me to the Bird Park, at Monti Casino. We passed Dr Russell's room at 11.10am this morning (Saturday) they had just closed for the day.
I knocked and called, but they had all just left.

Damn just be a few minutes can you believe it

I am counting the hours, it is so quiet without her here, I really miss her.:(

That is exactly what I wanted to do

you and Sterretjie
What a pity, the traffic was horrendous, (did you know it's the second busiest road in South Africa). Sure we will meet, in the near future.

One more sleep Linky, just one more, bet you are counting the hours.
So happy there is a great improvement. Knowing you, nursing and caring for her Sterretjie will be her old self within a day.

You not answering your cellphone

but you are forgiven
How is my little :smile022: doing today?
Bet she is so happy to be back home with mommy, and visa versa
You must be spoiling Sterretjie to bits, with so much love (and treats) LoL
Enjoy your time with her

Aggggg it is the 3rd time I am typing this message, every time that I say submit it says no connection!:mad:

Sorry for not updating - we have on and off internet connection in the whole of Kempton and Isando areas.

Ah what a pleasure to have my girl home! She still looks very sick and sleeps quite a lot but at least the shivering is gone!:D I am giving her oral meds in the morning and evening and it is much easier than what I expected, I think she is used to it. She is going for an x-ray again on Monday.

I'll give proper update as soon as internet is 100% again.;)

(I was in the shower Ant and only saw the miss call when it was already past 10. Sorry:eek:.)

I am just so happy she is at home, recovering in her mommy's care.
One day at a time, slowly but surely she is getting better.
After this ordeal, you could become a avian nurse Linky

She seems MUCH better tonight!

She is very vocal and also screamed while I bathed my iguana. Her screaming for attention has always made me smile but now it really brings joy! When she stopped screaming earlier this month I KNEW something was terrible wrong. But it is back!!!

As I am typing here she is doing the whistle song and practicing pretty girl. I have to go - we need to play.:D

Great news! We are all smiling for you two!
