How many of you out there remember that standard of measurement?

What I want to know is what can us old timers use as a size comparison
That the younger generation will be able to relate with.

Perhaps saying “it’s bigger than a microwave oven “

So, this made me laugh. My husband and I lived in Italy for 2 years in early 90s. With our rough Italian, at a young age back then, Piccolo meant Little, or a little bit. When we retired I finally got my husband to cave into it being the right time for us to have a bird again. I told him I just wanted a Little Bird. Hahaha....we got a Piccolo! Language is an interesting thing

The reason this phrase keeps ringing in my head is because of Bella my CAG .

If a small box is delivered to our house bringing it inside is no trouble.
But Bella gets scared of lager boxes.
Anything that is the size of a breadbox or larger means we have to take special precautions.

But how many people out there nowadays has even seen a breadbox? It used to be a common saying and size comparison. Everyone had a breadbox in their kitchen.

Nowadays microwave ovens are about as common as breadboxes and the size is (as best I can remember) close.

So if I say “I cant bring boxes bigger than a microwave oven “ everybody knows about how big that is.

Haha Tex, I have 2 breadboxes in the kitchen. I make a lot of bread though, and the boxes are the only way to Pickle proof them. He has tried to raid them on many occasions.
