I think Rosie's sick

Did the vet suspect anything at all???
She doesn't suspect any illness. It took a long time for Rosie to get feather dust and she thinks she's acting different because she's not used to it and it can be irritating. Rosie's ears were perfect, clear nostrils, her heart sounded good, breathing good, poop looks good, she said she's a good weight and it's fine that she's a little lean. She said for Rosie's health history she seems to be doing really good.

All the symptoms that I saw were very slight, but I was so worried! I know how well birds hide illness and I was terrified of the symptoms getting worse. Finding out that it's most likely just her getting used to her own dust is great. I' feeling pretty confident now that the rest of the testing will come back good, but we won't know until it's done.
So glad she's doing ok.. <3 I heard Jacob click when I first got him too just a couple of times, and Ihave reptiles when they click its also URI so that's when I ran him to the vet. However same thing, feather dust, not uncommon at all apparently. He said that if clicking occured more regularly that then I should worry more. a click here and there is normal.. I hope the test comes back negative and what a knowledgeable vet you have. Mine is really good with reptiles and he's an avian specialist but I've never needed to utilize him within parrot situation yet I hope hes as good as yours.. I was very impressed with that!
That's good to know, I only my heard the clicking the one time for about 15 seconds. I hope your vet turns out to be fantastic, having a vet you trust makes a huge difference.

I love Rosie's avian vet and trust her judgment completely. she loves birds and is a wealth of information. I learn something new everytime I go. It's also a bird only vet, if something is out of character they know right away because they're examining birds daily.

Copper ,your lucky [it sounds like you have a very experienced vet] . Your doing the best you can for her.

If the vet thinks her estrogen levels are high, you can't feed her any other pellet than TOPs because all the others have soy in them which has estrogenic properties (and will just make things worse).

Have you thought of daily baths and an air purifier for the dust?

Was the hemoglobin test the 'regular' one or the Advia? Because I understand that, for birds, the only valid results come from the Advia test.

Same with the calcium, was it a plain blood calcium (which is not good for birds) or was it the ionized one?

Poor sweet Rosie!!! Sorry to hear she's not feeling well- glad you got her in to see the doc fast and it's not something MAJOR though! 🙏 prayers for Rosie! 😊💚

When the vet calls me with her test results I'll ask her what she thinks about feeding her TOPS instead. Rosie used to eat TOPS, but after changing her to Harrison's she's been doing so much better.

I don't have a air purifier, but I leave my window open unless it's 85+ degrees or 65- degrees.

I'm not sure, the test it says on my receipt are direct fecal, gram stain, and panel with bile acids. They did one test at the appointment that had fast results, it only took about 15 minutes and they came back with a paper that had a bunch of numbers on it. I don't know what that one is called.
I don't really understand all the medical stuff

Well, I'm glad to hear everything turned out as well as it could be!!! And her having dust???? That's fantastic!!!!

Hope the rest are good, too!

Curious to know how the diet changes work out, for her!

I'm so happy that she has dust, it's still not quite as much as other galahs that I've met(which is very few) but for her it's awesome. I've been using the spray "Rain" that the vet loves and recommended to me, it's made a HUGE difference in Rosie. I haven't noticed the tail bobbing, she isn't sleeping a ton like before, and is less irritable and grumpy, still haven't heard the clicking again. She's been acting like herself again :D

I'm still very concerned about the second fatty tumor developing as it brings forth liver concerns, The test panel with bile acids will also tell us the state of her liver, last time she had one done it was in perfect shape. Once I have her new diet planned out and organized I'll make a post about it, no more grains for the rest of her life until the vet says otherwise(which she said is unlikely) is going to be a big change for her. It's her favorite thing about the chop mix. She is going to be on a very low fat diet, and will need a lot of exercise to stop the growth.

She's been letting me pet her lots and acting so happy, before I had to watch Rosie so carefully as she'd go from "this is tolerable" to "NOT TOLERABLE, now I shall glare at you" in a split second. Now she's "yaaaay I love to be pet and I love you too"

sucky instagram pics of happy Rosie

Wow, i'm just seeing this. (Being away, and busy at work trying to prepare to go away, i have barely been online lately except very quickly.)
I am so glad Rosie isn't sick. The rest of her issues can hopefully continue to be managed so she feels good.
Sending love to Rosie!!!

lol, that happens to me sometimes to. I see a really long thread about something bad and I hadn't been on enough so I feel bad for missing it XD

Glad to know you Rosie is doing well, its great she has such a caring parront :)

I am very sorry to hear about Rosie being sick. I am no Vet and I am confused a bit I would have thought that getting feather dust back is a good sign and a sign that she is getting back to good health and on a good diet. You certainly give her a lot of exercise and her weight is by no means on the heavy side. I am surprised by her other conditions such as the fatty tumor. I am sure you must struggle with some of the diagnosis and treatments too. Stay strong and positive.

I hope it all works out well for you and her. You are certainly doing everything in your power to make sure she is happy and healthy.

Just caught this thread now- any updates? She is such a cutie! I love that last photo you posted, she looks so happy :) Hoping all is well....
