I need an escape proof cage

Check out these Parrots. An escape proof cage would be the least of your worries :)

Getting in a little late here, but I don't think there is such a thing as a "escape proof" cage. You get used to the extra work of the padlocks on the doors. Invest in big stainless ones and they'll last the rest of forever:) Be sure to keep the keys well out of reach or a bird like Zoe will totally be able to figure out how to use the keys to let herself out:p My dads goffin has to have padlocks EVERYWHERE on his cage, and you best put the keys across the room or he WILL unlock the locks, escape and trash the house.

On another note, those breeder doors are a joke "security" wise. Kiwi can't pick the simplest lock but can simply rip the whole breeder door off his cage:eek: We'd have to padlock it if he had to be locked up during the day, but we've been just allowing him to be "free" all day (Birdman's birds inspired me to let Kiwi be free too;)) for a few months now, so I leave the breeder door open all the time.

I love these guys!:D Though I imagine if I lived where they did, I would not be so amused by a marauding gang of destructive parrots:eek:.

Yeah, those things are known to break into cars... and pull Smash N Grabs bird style.

When we went on holidays to New Zealand, they advised us not to leave our rental car in the carparks of some of the national parks due to these birds. The like to chew out all the rubber that holds the windscreen in place. :)

Karen, thank yo so much for this thread! I have laughed so hard at so many posts on here, please thank the lovely Zoe for me:)
I'm glad she seems to be staying in the cage now, but look forward to the next escape story after she picks the locks:)

I'd recommend a lock that requires a key, not the combination ones!
My Emit first escaped from his cage the same way about 2weeks after I brought him home:eek:
I then put a combination lock and a month later, guess who I found hanging out on my bed playing with a stuffed toy when I got home from work! So since then the key padlock has been my choice lol
