Birdman, you have to admit, the Amazon hormone stories are now the stuff of legend...

I think I was 13 when I got bit by a nape. To this day I love watching them and hearing them, but not keeping them. I suck at reading them.

And how much of it are people who mistake the line of death dance, for come hither and pick me up?! (Which is probably the number one issue with zons.)
I agree zons take more knowledge than all of them to handle safely. BUT they are also the easiest bird in the world to read, because they tell you what they are likely to do long before they do it.

They have a DEATH DANCE?!?!
Alright zons are out too....lol
Wow!! What species Is Zoe. I'm so glad I have a small (weak) green cheek conure. I'd hate to have this problem! No large birds for me apparently.
Edit: just saw your signature... macaws... nope not for me.

Zons do have a very unmistakable dance when they are pissed off or on "overload" leave them be for 10 minutes and you can usually get near them again.

Pionus are recommended as "easy" birds, but the males have the same style DEATH DANCE as zons, though only 200-300 grams, but STILL :52: LOL
They certainly do.
Very closely related to zons. In fact, I tend to think of them as just really small zons.

Yep. Raven the Bronze Wing makes that clear to me (his sole owner :20 he displays the death postures to me all the time... He LOVES hubby and won't bite him no matter what. I can't even believe it. My vet says BW males in particular are buttheads. Maybe there like the "hot three" but of the Pionus world? Lol, idk

The males establish the nests and protect the territory.
These behaviors are all related to territorialism...
Toos are another one I wouldn't have except maybe a galah. Thet are so sweet looking and gorgeous I might overlook the fact that they are a too.
