Buddy - Red Crowned Amazon (27 yo)
Venus - Solomon Island Eclectus (4 yo)
Buzz CAG (2 yo)
Sam - Cockatiel 1997 - 2004
Tweety - Budgie 1984 - 1987
Sweety - Budgie 1985 - 1986
My mother in law came over and met Buddy for the very first time. He loves her more than me! He was trying to get to her face to kiss her, was throwing kisses, saying hello, wolf whistling, spreading his tail, over fluffed his cheeks AND STARTED SAYING THINGS HE'S NEVER SAID BEFORE!!!! Even repeating her. Usually everyone gets the hate treatment. I am jealous. Buddy is a little turd right now, lol.

Some parrots just prefer others. They're tricky little guys, they may love you but for some reason love someone else a lot more.

I know Buddy has been in your family for a long time. Does he perhaps have some sort of positive association with your mom? She gave him a treat that one time or something? Parrots remember a face forever, be it good or bad.

He sure looks happy to see her in that photo!

He doesn't like my mother or my sister and we joke about how he only loves me. He hates my sister. He acts the worst with her, very naughty attitude even flipping his wings at her and trying to get to her thru the bars to bite her. It's so bad I get embarrassed.

His reaction today was a total 180, refreshing though because he's such a mean, angry little green bird with almost everyone. My mother said he's being nice to someone to get back at me for leaving him for two days with Husband, lollll!!

Hahahahahaha! Love at first sight, eh? And yes, I can definitely see it in that pic. He looks like he would squeeze through those bars to get to your mother-in-law!

Did she try handling him? Or was she nervous?

Lol!!!! He was trying to squeeze through the bars alright! She was nervous about trying to handle him but I swear he would have done anything she asked him too. And she speaks Spanish, was telling him beso (kiss) and he said beso! He even said bye. I didn't know he could say bye. He's a character for sure.

Yes definitely agree with this and seen examples of it happen before. Relax when his message is spent he'll come running to mommy! :)

Ugh I know the feeling. Parker did the same thing with my mom when they met the first time. He shocked her with his talking, and she yelled "oh my god!" Twice in a row. To which Parker immediately picked it up and mimicked her. That made my mom fall, and she hates birds. Now we keep a cage at her house and she insists on bird sitting when we go away and need a sitter.

Parker barely talks to me, but mom comes over and he's learning new words and spewing them out right away? Yeah, little jealous.

I think they're smarter than science realizes, and they do it to screw with our heads.

I for one welcome our feathered overlords.
