Aww those are cute! Your qp will love them!

I stopped at the craft store on my lunch hour and picked up a few things, made this when I got home.

Obviously Lola is already enjoying it, but am concerned, can birds choke on beads? I know I have other toys with beads but was still wondering!

Thanks
Beth

Wooh, that is so cool! My finds have some toys with beads. I am not so concerned, though, because they do not have the strength to break through them. Hopefully someone with a more informative answer will come along.

OMG! Tanktop! I so totally didn't see your question until Just This Minute! I'm so sorry! What a heel I am!

I'll answer you first... The original ring used appeared to be about a 2-3" SS ring. It wasn't wire, it was more like the rings you'd find blocks and bells strung on or something. The strips of fleece were just tied onto that- bunches of them. I've seen bigger ones made with bigger rings, longer strips of fleece and lots more of it. People have taken those home for their 'toos and Zons and said they're awfully happy birds!

Of course, I forgot to add... What amazing ideas you guys have! You're making me feel all creative now! I've got a bird mart coming up so I need to start making a list of the parts I need so I can get busy with this too!

I think I'm getting a little carried away now. Just whipped these 2 together, all that's left to do is wrap with Sisal.

OMG give me one. :11::11::11: :D

Terrific job, CC!!! Did you use vetwrap to make it less slippery? I think I'm gonna give that a try on my next creation rather than wrapping with cotton and/or sisal, especially since the wrapping part has been quite rough on the fingers and hands.

Than you! You really should. Vetwrap is so much less tough on the hands. Its also faster.and cheaper. Downside: You have to keep some extra in order to change it once it gets really dirty. :)

I am home today, made up these today!

This is a toilet paper roll foraging tube!

And this is new toy made with leather strips, beads, coke bottle caps and odwalla lids!! Since Lola arrived I don't seem to throw as much stuff away!

Wow I am so jealous of all these things y'all make. Those are awesome. I'm making a list for the stores this weekend. My list for the bird fair this month is growing too. Oooo I gonna have a mad hubby, lol.

My DIY toy is much simplier than those you all posted ( which are way cool ). Ruby shreds it in seconds so I get 4 flowers out of 6 sheets of tissue paper. It only takes a few minutes to make them. She makes the most beautiful confetti out of them.

OMG!! Those are beautiful! Sad thing is they're just gonna get shredded... but confetti is always just as fun!!:p:D

Hi, Can you send me instructions to make one? I would like to make one for Judy. That looks like a toy she would enjoy. Or, are the instructions on the internet somewhere?
