I was in the crafty mood today, so I decided to re-use toy parts and things to make a new toy! They love it.

I guess so lol! ;)

I want to thank you both for sharing! I am getting great ideas for my sun conure. I am new to this, what are you using to hold those remade toys together? String?

On this particular toy I reused a metal kabob, but 99% of the time I use this:
So, What IS Boondoggle?!?
Boondoggle/lanyard string/gimp. I like it because it is stronger than string so the toy won't fall to the floor within 10 minutes. :D it is like plastic strIng, almost. Most people use it for making "lanyards" as you can see on the website I linked. My fids have never been able to break through it, though they barely chew on it anymore. I think they gave up trying to break through it. ;) you can finding at craft stores for really cheap. :)

Lori, just make some toys and give me a price, include shipping and let me know. I am just not as crafty as you. I might be if I had someone to put them together with but everyone works and you are too far away :( Make some conure size for the IRN and Quaker. Bigger and chunkier for the zon. Okay get busy and as Tim Gunn says "Make it work"!

I made a spherical swing today for my Amazons (or Macaw). THE easiest thing in the world, seriously, and it cost me just under $20.00 in materials. I found instructions on this online, and thought I'd give it a shot.

I'm really pleased with the results. :)

You should def post the link you used. What is that like tubing? I wanna make one now!

Here's the link: Spherical Swing | A Bird's Best Life

I used the larger PVC and am currently in the process of wrapping it with cotton rope so it's less slippery.

My Macaw is terrified of it, lol, that's another reason I'm wrapping it. Mine is enormous, about 3 feet in diameter.

That is awesome!! I think you have just found your vocation in life :)

Thanks Wendy, but I cannot take any credit for this as I simply followed instructions. EASY EASY EASY, took about 30 minutes.

But wrapping it is quickly becoming a pain in the rear end.

Here's the final product.

I wrapped it with cotton rope all the way around, and boy was that some tedious work, but well worth it in the end.

Niko (B & G Macaw) actually tried it out, but ultimately my Amazons LOVE it, even though it's a wee bit too big for them in my opinion.

I'll be making another one soon, and will wrap that one with Sisal rope. :)
