cockatiel (soon!)
Hi this is my cockatiel, Kinako! He seems really perky and bright otherwise but he keeps doing this weird head bobbing thing, almost to regurgitate but I’m not seeing any throw up… help is he okay!!!!

Btw for context this only started when I gave him pellets after a day of just chop (I wanted him to eat more of his chop so I took his pellets out for the day) and he was enthusiastic in getting stuck into them. Please ask me more questions…he’s still doing it now :( is this normal? Or is he struggling to eat?

It almost looks as if he's readjusting his crop. Never seen that before ... If his poop seems okay and he's only done it that one day, and there's no weird smell or vomit, I wouldn't worry :)

Thank you so much, thats so relieving to hear ❤️yeah I saw some regurgitation? I think but he seems fine and his poop is fine so for now I’ll just keep an eye on him haha… thanks again!

Yer Very welcome! I know how it can be to see something strange in a baby. Never sure if it's our imagination or not, LOL!

Pellets are dry food and are harder to get down into the crop than chop is so I think it is just swallowing and adjusting his crop. All okay but offer him some fresh water to wash it down with. When my budgies eat something dry they like to drink right after.

It's the crop dance! My caique used to do that
Now he dunks his pellets in water and eats it like cereal
