Sounds promising. A family member that is close to Soda would be the safest choice in a successful approach with a lift bucket. He may fly off with a stranger.Yes, they've already said one of us can go up with him so I think that will help tremendously!!!
A lift-bucket seems more promising than a firetruck. A firetruck may chase Soda away. Meisha goes to work with me on a regular bases. Tractor-trailer rigs and a an occasional firetruck are common in our travels to and from work. Meisha loathes both.
Buckets can be noisy. Consider talking to Soda constantly on your way up over the noise. Consider having a treat available to entice him in the transition to you. Water will be impractical in leu of vibration and bucket movement. Recommend having it available when you land.
Recommend securing Soda on the transition to the ground as the bucket movement will have a startle factor. One option is to trap the claws to your hand with your fingers and thumb. I use the method with great success on a regular basis. Note, your balance in the bucket will be an issue with the movement.
