Help please!! Amazon took flight outside

Hello! We're in a bit of a bind. Our YNA, Soda, took an unexpected flight yesterday and really showed us what he is capable of. Luckily, he stayed close but is continually perching as high as possible. We ran out of sunlight after nearly 6 hours, so he ended up staying outside. The sun is on it's way up and I'm hoping today will be the day he decides to come down. We tried "spooking" him down yesterday until we read that's exactly what not to do. Our approach today is more of a "let him come to us" but I'm open for suggestion. We have his mobile perch outside and another perch by the top window where his cage is. It's the room he shares with our son so we moved the cage over a bit so it's visible and are planning to leave the windows open. I've checked this morning and he is in the same tree he was in last night. I read that once the sun comes up they typically are ready to fly around 8 or 9. We'll be keeping a close eye on him today but if there is anyone out there that has experience with this, I'm open for suggestion. We're all attached to this crazy bird but our son in particular is the bonded person. Please help.

Food!

Most all birds /Parrots will be interested in eating after near 18 hours without.

Can a Ladder be placed into the tree to get close to him? If so, it may help as he may have a fear to flying from a high place.

We do have an extension ladder unfortunalty he's going much higher than it will reach. We have a ton of beautiful mature trees in our neighborhood so he's got his pick. We tried climbing them but can't get to the top where he is as the limbs are too fragile. I'm planning on giving him a bit to warm up as he's currently not talking (he's pretty quite and reserved in the morning) and I'll let him see me fill up the bowls on him mobile perch. Thank you for the suggestion!

Depending on where you are, you maybe able to get your Fire Department to come out with a ladder truck.

My JoJo knows my plastic cracker bowl! It makes noise when I shake it and I use that to get him to change rooms!

Maybe call a tree service? Some of those guys will climb any tree.

By remaining close, Soda seems to be signalling the willingness to be rescued. Some birds have difficulty "flying down" to their families. Food definitely a good motivator. If he flies away, don't give up, rather engage some of the tips posted by LaManuka. He's still in the tree right by our house. He's talking to us and sounding a little stressed but his body posture seems to be content. I've tried to call the local tree services for a boom truck but no luck. We'll continue to keep watch and hopefully his hunger will convince him to give getting down a try. Thanks for checking on him!!

Its scary for them to fly down if they haven't learned to. If you can get on your roof or someone's second floor he might be very willing to fly across.
Sometimes if you go out from the tree so it would be a wider angle to fly down , they are more willing too. Water and lots of splashing, as he will get thirsty and thats a big motivation

We had to spook him to a denser tree line as buzzards were circling him and he was on a tree that was just blooming so he was basically wide open and truly unsafe. The trees are on the far side of our neighbor so he's a little harder to see but he's safer. Ugh. We've called tree services and left messages and went to the volunteer fire dept as well. Not sure what else to do at this point but wait more. I really appreciate everyone help and suggestions.

Agreed.

Exaggerate your efforts to improve Soda's visual/understanding of what you are doing.

Consider using Soda's water bowl. Pour water from a container to the bowl. Let it fall two or three feet from the container to the bowl. Of course it's going to make a mess. Exaggerate dumping of the water from the bowl. The point is to make the water identifiable. Go through the process again, filling the bowl. Follow by offering it up only with some form of landing target immediately close by. If nothing else, your other hand.

Do you have other parrots, that he knows, that you could bring outside (in a cage) for them to make contact calls to him?

What are his favorite treats? If there's a potent pepper or something he enjoys it could help entice him down.

water is now getting critical for him. You must recover him soon as dehydration can lead to death.
When you recovered him, offer applesauce to help replace liquids and help with electrolytes. The little boost if sugar will help to.

I do hope today us the day you get him back.

We found someone with a bucket truck that is able to come out today. I'm hoping this works .. it seems by his calls that he is stressed out pretty bad but he is just to scared to come down. We can't get him to budge at all from the branch he is on. We'll have plenty of water and applesauce ready if we're able to reach him. Yes, they've already said one of us can go up with him so I think that will help tremendously!!!
