Dianne, actually, he did NOT see his shadow.

Linky, it's an American tradition and holiday. On Februrary 2nd, the groundhog comes out from hibernating during the winter. If he sees his shadow, he runs back into his burrow and hibernates for another three months. This means winter will be longer.
But, if he doesn't see his shodow, he stays outside and gets ready for spring. This means spring is coming early.

There's a famous groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil, who lives in Pennsylvania. Today, he did not see his shadow so spring will be here early.

Personally, I just follow along for fun, but I'm not sure if it really works, lol. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.

Geez Diego, I realized my typo! Thanks!

I forgot about Groundhog Day now that I go to school in Florida lol. I really do miss the seasons up north. I am pretty sure that if the groundhog was in Connecticut he wouldn't even be able to get out of his hole. My mom said there was 70" of snow on the ground at home! There's no way spring is coming early.
