Good reads

Did you say SciFi & birds & coffee & wine? Where do I sign up? I thought of more.

Anne Rice “Interview With A Vampire” (and all related)
John Conroe “The Demon Accords” (light, goofy, entertaining)
Hugh Howley “Wool” ‘Shift” Any all else. Crazy good

I have all the titles I mentioned (and hundreds more) in kindle and/or Audible. If anyone would like to borrow let me know.

Has anyone joined World Parrot Trust, and read their magazine? I'm wondering if I should join. Mmm..

I am a member of the world parrot Trust. The summer issue of Psittascene that I received last week has red fronted macaws on its cover and also an article on challenges faced by parrot conservationists in eastern Indonesia. :yellow1::yellow1::yellow1:

Do you enjoy their magazine? Do you recommend joining ?

I personally do enjoy their magazine and would recommend joining. You can read some of the older editions of their magazine on their website and take a call on whether you want to join. You can then join for a year and chose to renew later :)

Did someone say SciFy/fantasy. I read constantly, actually I breathe, drink and eat this genre. Actually I mostly listen to it on audible. In no important order:

- Patrick Rothfuss “The King Killer Chronicles”
- Earnest Cline “The Armada”
- RR Haywood “The World Ship Humility”
- Brandon Sanderson. Anything and everything he has written. Sanderson and Rothfuss are tied for all time favorite authors.
- Terry Goodkind: Anything and everything

I just got Trouble’s Child -Terry Goodkind. It’s very good, thank you. I’m looking forward to the rest of the Angela Constantine Series.

Bumble looks forward to sharing snacks with Levi while we drink coffee and talk about books. I’m not a huge sci-fi lover (I keep trying) but I’ll get you all converted to cozy mysteries! I just read a really silly-fun series. The series is called Unhuman, author Wilkie Martin. First book is Inspector Hobbes and the Blood. Full of ridiculous puns. Loved it.

The Girl in the Moon: Angela Constantine, book 1. by: Terry Goodkind

It was so good, I didn't want it to end! :)

Sci-Fi. I been reading that genre since I was a kid. Hands down one of the best is "The Mote in God's Eye" and the follow on books, by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. I am mega shocked these have not been made into movies, but they are great! the Niven/Pournelle team has brought us many stand alone S/F novels and series and each is good on their own. This is the best of that team, highly recommended.

when those 2 get together on a book it's epic.
They only had 1 I did not like. Don't remember the name Took place on a planet that was low on potassium. The main town was built on a spiral that the landing ship created .

The Eagle Tree by Ned Hayes
Very inspiring, an autistic boy who loves to climb trees, and conquered much to achieve a very large goal!!!
Fourteen-year-old March Wong knows everything there is to know about trees. They are his passion and his obsession, even after his recent falls—and despite the state’s threat to take him away from his mother if she can’t keep him from getting hurt. But the young autistic boy cannot resist the captivating pull of the Pacific Northwest’s lush forests just outside his back door.

Inhuman ( The Inhuman chronicle book one)
By Todd Feren

We follow a journey of a sociopath as he navigate the zombie apocalypse. The book is not for the faint of heart, the narrator warns you in the beginning he is a real jerk, but he meets a dog, maybe there is hope for him. I'm really enjoying it and fair amount of humor.

I saw my wife reading a book called 'Kept Animals'. Looked interesting.

Saw the review on Amazon; added to my Wishlist. Currently very expensive- 1500 rupees approx. But looks like a great book. Thanks for sharing.

this is a bit of a reverse post on this thread.
I have tried Googling and haven't had any luck. There is a book I read a long time ago I have no idea of author or title but I remember what the book was about.

It was a detective/sci-fy book.
A detective was looking into a number of strange deaths. The deaths were related to a new street drug.

This drug would allow those who took it to parallel process using both sides of the brain. It was not addictive per say but coming off the drug made you feel so stupid that you just had to take more.
Like a lot of drugs the more you took it the more of the drug you needed for it to work.
It caused some kind of bad reaction eventually and cause death in some way I don't remember.
The detective eventfully found the scientist that had developed the drug. The scientist developed the drug in the hope of helping his daughter who suffered from autism (or something like that) .

It sounds a lot like the movie Limitless and it has similarities, In fact it was watching that movie that reminded me of the book.

If anyone out there knows the title or author I would love to hear from you.

Me too ! I'd read that book!
Limitless is based off the book Dark Feilds, is that the book?

The Speed of Dark is a great book, sci-fi, autistic man faces a choice to take treatment or not, I loved this book, give it all 5 stars.
