Getting parrot to stop landing on monitor?

My parrot keeps landing on my computer monitor no matter how often I shake it to get him to fly off.

I wouldn't mind but he poos every 15 minutes or so and pecks the screen.

I thought he'd get the idea by now considering i've been shaking the monitor every time he's landed on it for a while but he seems pretty stubborn.

He's the same with the light in my room, I've parrot proofed that thing as well as I can but there's still small spots where the wire becomes exposed that I can't cover, seems like
I can't relax when he's out because he's either trying to kill himself or destroy my stuff lol.

Any ideas?

Good luck.

Sorry I couldn't resist. I don't know. My Tiels will land on my iPad when using it.

It's small comfort but mine is exactly the same. I keep returning him to his play perch but if I have something he wants it! Sometimes he takes a time out snuggled against my neck - but that's very much on his terms rather than mine and only when he fancies a rest. I think it's normal.

I'm considering putting myself in a cage!

He just crapped on my monitor :(

On a better note I've got him stepping up onto my barehand without biting.

So there you go - a perfect moment in an imperfect world. Well done! I guess you just need to pick your battles.

when you find a way to get him to stop let the rest of us know!

Yes he will poo every 15 minutes, either potty train him to go in his cage or live with it. I made a little thing I attached to my monitor to stop poop being able to get into the vents on the back of the monitor as it cost a lot of money and left mine to it. He would peck occasionally but that was it. I don't think shaking it is good though, is he doing any real harm sitting on it? It's a good place for them to hang out with you, get a little attention and not be attached to you

Go to a toy store (perhaps online) and find you a small rubber snake... Lay it on or near top of your monitor. Usually that will either keep them off or they might attack the snake. Another option is a large fuzzy toy spider that looks like a tarantula.

Have tried putting another perch close to you & your computer?
Every time he lands on your monitor tell him no and gentle remove him and place him on the other perch. Once you place him on the other perch reward him.

Yes exactly a small playstand near you which is what he wants, the closeness, Add some toys to occupy and a little food and hope this will help. :)

Maybe a bigger desk half for you and half for him. Set up a nice work station for him next to yours.

?? not kidding... my method works pretty well. The reason it works is because birds instinctively avoid snakes and spiders.

I was going to suggest either covering the monitor to poo-proof or putting something the bird's afraid of on top. Duke's terrified of yardsticks and rulers because his old family used them to get him down from high places, and this christmas nutcracker doll thing we have. He flies away from either, and won't land near them.

A perch nearby is kinder, I suppose. or at least the back of the computer chair instead of the monitor.

He's crapped on it twice now so at the moment he's damaging some pretty expensive equipment. I wouldn't mind at all if there was a way to prevent him doing this. I've been trying to think of something feasible to attach to the monitor that would make the surface uneven and discourage him from landing there but at the moment i've got nothing.

Theres a shelf attached to my desk with a metal bar on it, both of which he makes use of. Same situation with my light, there's a ceiling mounted perch a few feet away from it but he still swings off the lampshade too.

I'm not at the stage where I can get him to step up in all circumstances yet, he needs to be hungry, and he has to come to me, it's very much on his terms. If I move my hand near to him instead of him coming to my hand he will chase it with his beak open lol.

I've been putting his millet on the shelf I just mentioned but he still loves my monitor, I will give the toy idea a go though thanks, he did seem pretty obsessed with
a small hand sized stuffed toy dog I had lying around my room, so maybe I'll give him that.

I put 2 nails partly in my wall slightly above my tv. Then got a board and put it over nails and tv. It sits at a slight down angle. My lovie Cora can land on but since it comes over the tv about half an inch she cant poop on my tv. Ill try to post a pic tomorrow if you want.

how is he damaging it? Poo unless it goes into the inner workings of the computer and goes on the circuit board, it would depend on your monitor but you can make a cover over it. I just got a thin piece of metal cut to the same height as the monitor, screwed it into the same holes the stand uses then put a piece of wood on top of that. as the way my monitor is made the circuit bird can be seen easily through the vents.

He's pooping on the screen mostly, It's weird because he faced towards me the majority of the time and it seems like he always turns around when he needs to poop.

She tries to find the bird and grab the toys.
Lol mine has started jumping down onto my keyboard and watching the screen. I'm pretty sure he watches my monitor from his cage too sometimes.

I bet he is. i play movies and kids shows for timneh, and audio books. she loves it. Timneh steals my keys from my keyboard and likes to play tug of war to get em back its a toss up if I'll get it back whole.

Lol yeah mine has been trying to removed my keys but hasn't had any luck so far.

He flew off with my debit card earlier though :33:

there's no damage then if he goes on the screen, just annoyance but yeah try seeing if you can coax him into going to other spots. Make them more fun!

Clearly he's trying to order more seed!
