Getting into Betta's-Tank Ideas

Hahahahahaha! Loving your cleanup crew! One word of caution, though... I'd once bought maybe four shrimp for my 125 gallon tank. Within maybe a week, they'd all mysteriously vanished! (Can't be certain whether it actually took a week. It is a big tank with a number of places to hide, and sometimes after searching I'd find some hiding underneath some driftwood.)

Anyhow, after a week I finally figured they'd been eaten... WHOLE... by either my black ghostknife (coolest fish EVER! Swims as well forward as it does backward and "sees" via electromagnetic fields that give it 360 degree coverage! Sweet! But I digress...) or one of my clown loaches. It wasn't until months later that I'd discovered the horrifying truth! (Though being eaten whole is rather horrifying in and of itself.) They had climbed up the air tube right OUT OF THE WATER and down the back of the tank... where they'd dried and died in complete privacy! [emoji33]

So watch for that. I'd never imagined they might prove capable of climbing out of the tank! Shudder!

Ghostknife fish are sick! Was debating on getting one a while ago because they look like floating feathers LOL.
But after reading your post, I became a bit paranoid and began shooing my shrimp off the driftwood once they got to the top...:54:

Okay, late update. But unfortunately, the Tempura Clan has been reduced to only 5 (I presume). In 2 weeks, I lost four to one in an unknown death, another sucked into the filter, a third and a fourth who jumped out. On a brighter side, 2 are pregnant and I just saw a baby shrimp today! And Oregon is left by himself, in 2 days Oregano had begun acting strange -- not moving spots and died behind the filter.


The main occupant for my tank is a Halfmoon Plakat that I found at PetCo. not really the best place to go but after he saw me, he flared up and began following me around everywhere and was quite active. I decided to name him Taser because he has three little prongs at the end of his tail that looked, well, like a taser.
