Early morning Photo Shoot (Macaw Version)

Beautiful photos of your macs. They are simply stunning. I would love to have one but I don't think hubby would be too impressed. :(

Thank you so much! Sure the hubby would be impressed, just work on him...I had to do a LOT of convincing with Niko. With Ripley I downright begged...and then he even gave me the money I was short for Ripley. ;)

LOVE your new signature, Wendy! That is beautiful:)

Wendy, your macaws are breathtaking! You can see in the lustrous shine of their plumage that they are VERY well cared for and that they have a healthy diet. You're quite the parront. And my favorite pics are easily the ones of Ripley flying!!! Wow!

Ouch on the finger shot! That must've hurt! Considering the size of his beak, though, you can take some solace in the thought that he apparently showed at least some restraint. (That's just a whole LOT of beak! Lol!)

Thank you bunches, Stephen. :)

Tomorrow I will try and record some of Ripley's flying. Hopefully he won't be too boisterous about it. :D It's hard to take good photos while he's in mid air, especially because it happens all so VERY quickly.

Your mid air pics beat mine! I usually end up catching the shadow of Bixby's wing just as he slaps me in the eye with it! Lol!

And I'd love to see recordings of him in flight! Holding you to that!

Wowwww! They are sooooo beautiful! They look so healthy and happy, they GLOW!!!

Beautiful birds, Wendy! I wish Simba would let me get his pin feathers for him. He looks SO ratty right now! But if I start touching, he gets real upset. I think someone got too grabby with his feathers in the past. :(

Bruce, has Simba had some baths yet? I know frequent baths and high humidity will help with the hedgehog look. Ripley's got quite a few himself at the moment. Depending on how far along they are he lets me help him get the shaft off. But I can't touch the "fresh" ones...then he'll throw a fit.

He gets cage showers. He doesn't even look at a "bird bath" of any sort, and getting him in the shower is not going to happen right now. But Jo gives all the birds mist showers regularly. 2-3 times a week anyway.

I love your macaws! Ripley is so beautiful in the picture where he is flying. They both have a stunning shine to their feathers and a very healthy look!
What pellet brand are you feeding them? Do you have any recipes you'd like to share? :32: I am sure you have posted b4 on their diet, but at first glance I haven't found them.
The bite looks like it hurt! I am happy he didn't crack your fingernail to *cringes*

I couldn't take regular video as my charger went MIA. BUT, I found my "el cheap" Snapp recorder, and here are 2 (bad) test runs. :32:

Hahahha were they skeptical of your video recorder??

Looks like Ripley loves your counter!! Lol

They're sooooo beautiful Wendy!!!

What was it that you offered Ripley in the second video? It sure put some pep in his step! Lol!

Thank you much. :)

Here are some links to the homemade / home cooked food I make them. As for dry, they get various blends of Goldenfeast mixes and Zupreem Natural pellets.

HAHAH Stephen! It's THESE things he goes crazy over, but he destroys those with one snap of the beak.

Thanks! Do those holes run completely through them? Allowing for ropes or leather thongs to be attached for a hanging toy? Or are they just indentations? If the former, I'm definitely getting some for Bixby! I reckon he's a wee bit gentler with his toys than your big macs! Lol!

Yes, the holes all go all the way through :) You can attach with sisal, poly rope and/or leather. You can also use as foot toys. ;) And yes, they should last you a good while with Bixby. :D
