Cockatiel
Hello. Recently my cockatiel has begun drinking more water, or so I think.

Last month one of my two cockatiels passed away, so I may be overthinking all of this. I’m not sure what to think.

Since the passing of my other cockatiel, I have begun to observe everything my remaining cockatiel does. This includes her drinking habits, which seem to have changed. Instead of taking a couple sips 2-3 times throughout the day (again, I never actually paid attention to what exactly she was doing before, but it definitely seems less than it is now), it seems it’s now 4-5 times.

Also since the passing, she is pretty much on an all pellet diet (harrison’s/zupreem mix) with very little seed and some veggies daily. She also often drinks water around the same time she eats. Aside from that, she is completely normal.

i noticed this friday and my cockatiel passed away 24th december.

am i overthinking?

I think yes. A few more sips of water is not a cause for concern. A constant or often trip to the water bowl might be, but that is unlikely to be an outward sign of depression or anxiety. More likely a medical reason, but you say she is eating and acting fine. I suspect this is you overreacting.

I'm sorry for the passing of your other bird.
I think Wrench is most likely correct. I would keep an eye on the poops. If they look normal than I wouldn't worry.

Her poops may become more watery if she drinks more but that's normal UNLESS the greenish brown solid part itself becomes liquid. That would be diarrhea and need avian vet care.
