When Archie is performing his mating dance for me (usually every morning) aside from the usual head bobbing and twisting, neck stretching, whistles and chirps he also crouches down, pushes his wings forward and slightly away from his body. He ends up looking as if he is hiding his head between his wings as they almost meet in front of him.
I have read that when a bird holds it's wings away from it's body it is because it is overheating but I am sure this is not the case with Archie, he does this everytime he dances for me and is certainly not hot at all.
It must surely be part of the mating ritual but just to reassure me it would be good to know if anyone else does it too.
Oh and he hoots too, stretches his neck up and really hoots.
