Did someone ask for more Kyleigh?

Lol, I promise I won't. She likes being rubbed on her feet. It puts her to sleep lol. So I think I will be able to do it fairly easy....except I dont have any nails to scratch with. Maybe a file?

Ask your wife for a spare emery board. That should work well, and it's fairly gentle on the nails. :)

I'll definitely do that. I'm seeing her Saturday, hopefully we can get some off then. It bugs me lol.

Funny story related to painting her toes. My mother took in a pregnant stray cat, she gave birth to four white kittens and one black kitten. At the time I travelled all week and didn't see them much. I visited my mother when they were about 6 weeks old, walked in and found four white kittens walking around with different colored tails. I looked at my mother and said, "You painted the cats..." She started laughing and said yes, so she could tell them apart. I just shook my head. She used food coloring but I do not let her forget the fact that she painted the kittens.

Great catch Wendy!

That was actually my thought... Done to tell them apart. Lol

Kyleigh was an absolute doll today! I opened the door and started calling her and after a few moments she had this look of "oh wait this guy wants me to walk to him!" So she ran on over to me. She probably had no clue what she was doing, but it made my day. We were kissing and hugging and playing so much that I didn't take many pictures. And the pictures I did take are kind of blurry. Oh well! Enjoy the cuteness overload.

Zoned out after eating lol..

She weighed 968 grams today (Thursday) and is 50 days old.

Hey - I get that same zoned out look after a big meal! :)

Great timing from the quaker! Loving these updates, Stephen. Keep them coming!

The new lady raising her is doing an outstanding job. The way she handles and treats Kyleigh is stunning. And the way she treats the rest of her flock. Kyleigh has considerably grown just within the week she has been there. It's pretty amazing to see.

As long as yall dont mind, Ill keep updating this thread every couple of days when I see her.

Personally I love seeing the updates and photos. It's awesome to see a macaw develop and hear how your interactions are progressing. I love the pics of her with the other two fids, she is so big compared to them but such a baby too. Awesome contrast and similarity at the same time. I will see my nieces and nephews this evening and I'll be sharing your thread with them. I did this last year when another member documented the hatching and growth of Pazu, a male eclectus. The kids loved the updates and watching his progress. Keep the updates coming!

As long as we don't mind?!? Stephen, we insist! Hahaha!

Today's visit was great. My wife was able to come, as well as my sister and mother. Kyleigh was active and more curious than ever. She was using her beak to sense everything around her, and even ate some cheerios after her feeding. So so much fun. Few pictures and even a video! I want to enter into September's POTM, but I have so many baby pictures I cant decide lol.

Amazing pics, Stephen! And I really loved the video! That Kyleigh is quite determined, isn't she? Do you plan to keep her flighted?

You look blissfully happy with Kyleigh on your lap, Stephen!! :D How did your wife, sister and mother like her (and vice versa)???

IMO THIS would make a great entry for this month's POTM contest, but of course the decision is up to you. ;)

Loved watching Kyleigh flap on the floor. HA! She doesn't even have all her feathers fully grown yet, but she's exercising away. TOO cute!!

The nail polish looks to be a tad bit less....or am I imagining things (again)??

Thanks Wendy! Yes less nail polish. It falls away pretty quickly. She put her foot in her mouth yesterday so I've really gotta get it off now. A few scratches fixes it, except now she thinks it's a game lol. The feeder said she will get off some as well.

Yes I do! I think I finally settled on that decision. I'll just be extra cautious. I'm confident that I can be responsible and make sure she either has a harness or the doors and windows are closed.

Love the pics, and I agree with Wendy's recommendation for the POTM picture. I love the picture where you look like a tree, lol. All parrots look content and happy. And Kyleigh, wow she is so huge compared to her buddies but so adorable. How long before she gets to go home with you? And how was your family's visit with her?

From everything I've read, macaws are normally fully weaned at 14-16 weeks. But....it can always be more. She will be 8 weeks on Wednesday of this coming week.

My family had a blast! My mom and sister loved Kyleigh and understood why I have been taking about her so much and dying for her to come home lol. Also! I think my mom may buy a conure lol.

Great visit. My dad and father in law may come with me next week.
