Hi everyone, Iā€™ve been researching cockatiels and conures and many other parrots for about 3 years now. Iā€™ve been obsessed with birds, and Iā€™ve always wanted one. Iā€™m finally getting one this year and Iā€™m very prepared to absolutely spoil my bird like crazy and pamper it. My problem is that I canā€™t choose between cockatiels or conures. If I got a cockatiel, I would try for it to be male. If I got a conure, Iā€™m not sure which gender I would prefer. I do have allergies, so before I make any final decisions Iā€™m going to a breederā€™s place to hang out with cockatiels all day to make sure Iā€™m not allergic. I want a bird who will be goofy, playful, and cuddly. I would like it if it whistled or talked or something, but that isnā€™t a need. It just needs to have a fun personality. I want to be able to put a harness on it and take it places, too. Now, I know every bird is different, but in everyoneā€™s experience, which would you prefer and why? Or what are the pros and cons of each that you have experienced? Thank you!

I"ve had both.

I'd need to know more about you, you age and gender time you have to spend at home.

The birds are similar...ish but the way they have differences. You and your situation have more to do then what you think you want.

I don't care where you live or what you do just the details of your lifestyle then we....Parrot forums will be able to help you out...

Otherwise its just I have this and hes great or I have that and hes great. Tell us more about you, your environment etc. Not your feelings.

I am not trying to be rude, but this part of your post worries me. Birds are not props for social media posts. Your bird may not enjoy going to a bunch of places, and it could be a long while before you earn the cuddles and see goofy antics.
