4 beautiful budgies
Hi! I adopted 4 different budgies at different times from extremely abusive homes. They ended up becoming good friends and bonding. There are three males and one female. I noticed about 10 days ago that one of the males started to mount the female. I didn’t think anything of it and now she has laid eggs. I went to buy a nesting box and put the eggs in there

I don't see a question but...
I think Budgies are like Cockatiels. They will mate and raise young whenever the conditions (food) is available. they don't have a special season like Amazons.

Sorry!! Apparently some of the post got deleted. Here is my question:
So I guess my question now is, is it okay to leave all budgies there? The cage is definitely big enough but I just don’t know if it will be safe considering the two other budgies there. What do I do?

I'd say it's probably the best choice to house the pair alone- take out the two males not seen with the female. Leave her boyfriend in with her and the nest. If you want them to raise babies, that is. Otherwise I would say to take away the box from them.

I agree with above.
There is too much chance of heartache and things going wrong if you leave the other males in the cage with the breeding pair.
That is assuming you are going to try to raise the babies.

Soooooooooooooooo... you want babies?

They sound like a delightful and happy flock! I think many will advise you just to take the eggs... oh and make sure your girl has plenty of calcium.

By the way, I think you are wonderful for rescuing them, and caring so much. They're lucky to have you.

Yes I’ve been giving her plenty of calcium in the form of cuttlebone and sometimes I’ll hardboil an egg for her and crush up the she’ll and feed her. I ended up taking the two males out. I’m so excited to welcome the new babies!

Enjoy. The first time I opened a nest box to squishy wee pink aliens, my heart lept to my throat. No other feeling like it in this world.

Please keep us informed and share photos! :)
