Bixby Update

Poor Bixby and poor Stephen! How awful to have this nasty health threat hanging over you! I don't know why I'm asking this, but has Bixby been x-rayed to check that he hasn't ingested something that might be causing his ongoing infection? I know it sounds weird, but weirder things have happened...

Anyway, warmest hugs and supportive squawks from me, Dommie and the Beaks. We hope our friend, Bixby, is feeling on top of the world before too much longer! XXXX

Great idea about taking an x-ray, Trish. I think I'll try that if this round doesn't do it. After all, if the source us within rather than without, it would certainly explain things. Something ingested could potentially be a perpetual source of infection... depending on the material.

And I'll make sure to pass along hugs and squawks both to Sir Bixby! [emoji6]

Oh Stephen, I was so hoping for good news. I am praying that this round of meds fixes the problem once and for all. Sending hugs to you and many scritches to Bixby.

Ah, Huckleberry. You and I both were hoping for that 100% recovery. It's definitely frustrating, but I'm just praying this round will be the very last.

Thank you for the hug and extra scritches both! But as for the test, I think you misunderstood. The next test will be in 3-4 weeks. Let's hope that one yields better results.

You're right, Stephen, I was confused. I understand now, I hope the next test yields far better results. More hugs and prayers for sweet Bixby.

I'm sorry his recent test results weren't the all-clear that we all had hoped for hopefully this will be the last round he'll have to endure- if the last round got his count down to 18, I don't see why this next round won't wipe out the infection completely.

Bixby is such a trooper- hang in there....he'll be right as rain in no time

Still a week to go on Bixby's 3 week antibiotics course, but I thought I'd share a pic of Bixby after his impromptu shower, today. (He and Maya got their morning oatmeal all over themselves, today. Slobs! [emoji23]

Hahahaha! Yeah, you'd think a food fight is exactly what happened! And I guess Bixby must've lost! He had oatmeal running down his back, Shirre! His back!!! Smh. And yes, he does seem to be doing much better. In that pic he's on his table perch because he kept flying off his treestand to get to me! Yup, he's feeling strong enough to fly to me from his stand... while that wet! Impressive, but I didn't want to risk him trying again and cracking a keel bone or something, so I moved my laptop and the work I was trying to do to my tray, and out came the table perch on my lap. Haha!

Of course, he was feeling cuddly/needy enough that even the perch on my lap didn't do it. Sometimes he's not happy until he's just on me. So much for multi-tasking! Sigh. Lol!

Thanks, Julie! The vet wanted Bixby to come back either after the 3rd week or the 4th. I'm going back and forth on which. I'm wondering if I should allow an extra week for this stuff to clear from his system just in case the WBC count ends up going back up without antibiotics there to clear out the infection, you know? I want to be completely sure that it's gone this time.

Hahaha! Yeah, he looks a lot cuter wet now than he did when he was much younger! Do you remember my frantic call to you when he was only like 4 or 5 months old? I'd given him a bath and was freaked out by how alien like he looked? I'd called you to ask if it was normal for an ekky to look like that! Hahahahahaha! Thank God his plumage has filled out since then!

Thanks, Karen! (Or is this K2? It all gets so confusing! ) Yeah, he's been in full cuddle bug mode, lately. It's funny. Ekkies are known for being standoffish, but I definitely have the two who disprove the rule! I think they would nest on either side of my face if they could! Lol!

Thank you! I'm really hoping he's back to normal now, myself. He's been on antibiotics for long enough to make me rather uncomfortable. Bixby is just under a year and a half at this point, so he's young yet.

Ah Wendy, the adoration is most assuredly mutual. Funny, but I'd never have thought he'd turn out to be so cuddly. He was considerably less so when we'd first brought him home.

Hahahahahaha!!! Oh, yes! Ekkies are most assuredly slobs of the highest order! And the disdain with which they toss food they don't like while reaching for the food that they do? Legendary. Lol!

Hmmm... can I just tell you how awfully, dreadfully profoundly I wish you'd get yourself a facebook account, Stephen? So many OT things would be so much easier to communicate if you would just take the Leap of Face and DO IT. I'm sure Bixby could hand-hold you through the whole process and even teach you how to set your privacy in case you're feeling a bit coy.
