Bixby Update

Thanks, everyone. Your support means a lot.

Bixby's weight has gone down further. His molt has also gotten heavier. Not sure if it's just a coincidence or somehow related. He has an appointment with his regular vet tomorrow at 1:00. I've also set up appointments with 2 other vets. One is available tomorrow evening, (The vet who diagnosed my late cockatiel, Suzie, with kidney disease) and the one with the best credentials, who isn't available until Monday.

In the meantime, I've stopped the Metacam. He's still on the antibiotic, though. I'm really scared for him at this point. I'm doing everything I can for him to keep his weight up. He seems to respond to me hand feeding him and switching back and forth between dry foods and fresh.

Oh Stephen, I'm at a loss for words here. :( Please know you and Bixby are in my thoughts and continued prayers! This is for you -->

:(:(:( I'm so sorry he's feeling worse and loosing weight. I'm still hopeful though! Bixby has undoubtedly had a healthy lifestyle with you, he is with humans who love him and WANT to save him and I am sure he will be strong enough to beat this!

More thoughts and prayers being sent your way Stephen!

This news is not good. Prayers for Bixbie and you, I know this is extremely hard going through a daily wait to see how things are progressing or not. Is this a typical season for an Ekkie molt? Is Bixbie molting more than a typical molt?

Dear little Bixby! Sending you warmest hugs and healing thoughts. Stay strong and beat this thing, whatever it is. XXXX

Stephen, hugs to you too - it must be so awful for you! :(

Stephen, still praying for Bixby...hoping that the new vet tomorrow evening can find what is going on. My heart is breaking for you all. But I am so glad he has you to take care of him, and I believe that your love and care is going to pull him through.

Stephen, still praying for Bixby here too. This is upsetting to hear my friend. Hoping this other vet and theone Monday can give you more insight into this situation. Hopefully you will be able to get more of a concrete answer. Maybe these doctors have a different set of diagnostics up their sleeve that can get to the root of exactly what it is, and can treat this effectively once and for all.
