So one of my pairs I don't think I've shared on here has been busy for the last month or so. I thought I'd start a thread showing what little gifts I pulled out of the box last night. I'm not going to tell you what Beef and Pattie look like (and the parents were named before I got them), I don't want to ruin the surprise. I hope to post new pictures at least every few days to show their development from here until weaning.

The youngest is 8 days old, the middle child is 10 days old, and the oldest is 12 days old. I did try banding the youngest, and you'll see it in the pics, but it fell off so I'll have to try again in a couple days. I figured it would, but sometimes they stay on fine so I thought I'd at least try.

Ah bless them so sweet, I'd be wanting to put coats on the little things, they look chilly without feathers LOL.

So is it Cornish and Pastie next for names? ;-)

Wow...so tiny! can't wait to see them getting their clothes on and growing up to be big birdies...just amazing.

So only 2 days have passed since the last pictures were posted, so be prepared to be amazed. Number 10, the oldest, is already getting pin feathers, and Number 12 finally has a band and open eyes. Yes, I simply call my babies by their band number and they do not get names. I do this because if I name them, I would keep them. Plus I don't want to give them an actual name because that is something I think their forever family should do.

The last 2 pictures show that even itty bitty babies get messy beaks and then everyone all full and in their basket ready to go back in the brooder to take a nap.

I just love babies.

I just think these pictures show the best comparison on what a difference 2 days make with babies. What do you think? Same babies, same basket.

I love this. It's always so surprising to me how different they are from day to day at that age. Looking forward to more!!

I've been slacking, but when I feed them next today, I will take new pictures. I've been super busy so I'm sorry I've fallen behind on this.

Okay, I have pictures finally. The babies have moved from the brooder to a tote. It's the in between step until they are fully feathered at which point they will move into a weaning cage. I think this is the point when they are the most adorable. Look at all those little pins!

The oldest is really starting to open up her pins and show her color. They are all girls by the way. And all yellow.

I'm dead. They're so cute. Stupid question: do they preen themselves even at this age to get those pinnies open, or is it magic, or ???

The pins somewhat break open on their own but they do start preening at this age. Well, start trying anyway. I have had some babies with almost all their pins open at this point and some, like these girls, are still little pin cushions.

I have another pair with 4 in the nest right now. I plan on pulling them Friday. While I knew these 3 would be yellow because both parents are, I have no idea what the new clutch will be since they are the first clutch from new parents. Those are the most exciting.

Great thread! Nice watching their development. They grow so swiftly at this age! Miss a day and you miss a lot!
