Female Red Crowned Amazon; Chiba
I have two questions:

1) How often should I bathe my 'Tiel and 'Zon?
-I bathe them once a day.
2) How much do you spray at once?
-I use a mister and spray them four to six times from about 12 inches away.

They are both very dusty.

Not sure about tiels, so hopefully some owners will answer for them;)

Amazons, on the other hand, are big green water rats! For right now, I think a few spritzes a day will acclimate Chiba to the idea of a bath, and a treat afterwards to reinforce how fun it is would be a good idea too. I wouldn't frighten her with a soaking bath yet. She likely wasn't being bathed regularly and may have even been "punished" with a squirt of water when she acted out (not uncommon for rehomes to have experienced). Though once she becomes more trusting and you see how she reacts to the water, zons should get a misting daily and a good drenching a couple times a week. They come from the rainforest, and do better with water:p They stink a bit after a bath,, but smell wonderful once they've dried off! Amazons are also large enough to handle a (gentle) human shower on lukewarm. Come to think of it, I haven't showered in peace for years. Theres always this big green thing insisting upon being up on the shower door impatiently waiting for "his turn" A lot of people also let their zons bathe in the sink under running lukewarm water.

I talk soothingly to her as I mist her, but I'll start leaving treats in her treat dish afterwards. :)
I have yet to experience a parrot looming at me in the shower. How funny! I bet it makes it more interesting!
Thanks!

My Zons get soaked. I mean the look like wet birds when I'm done spraying them. My Severe is just starting to like it so I've not soaked him much. I try to do it twice a week but usually it's only once on the weekends.

Daily misting/weekly soakings. Mine take showers...

Another good thing is just to let them be in the bathroom with you when you are showering. Ours like to sit up on the shower curtain rod and watch us while they sing and talk. They seem to love the "whooshing water" noise. We only actually get them in with us and wet them down once a week or so, but this way they still get exposed to the humid air, which is still good for their feathers.

My cockatiel LOVES baths. She dances and flaps her wings in the mist. She gets misted daily and soaked every three or four days. She also has a bathtub that attaches to her cage.
