SO unfair, Wharf! Gosh I'm drooling all over myself here. They were/are BOTH too precious, too cute, so adorable, so fluffy, so so so everything I want to cuddle with right this very minute. :10:

Holly Mac the parents look GINORMOUS!!! Did you meet/see them in person, Wharf? Are they as huge as they look? And they don't look very "friendly", lol, not that I would ever want to put my hand into the enclosure of a breeding pair of GWs.

LOL, I saw them all the time, they were just 2 doors down back then. It was pretty amazing being able to go out on the porch and hear 200+ Macaws and Amazons raising a ruckus at breakfast then dinner..... Yes the parents are HUGE!! No, that is not a cage I would want to walk into.... (but I would if I had to). My breeder is alot like me socially, we don't "play well" with others. :54: Shortly after moving there and hearing her birds all the time, curiosity got the best of me and I went down there to inquire as to what kinds of birds she had, we ended up as very good friends. I used to love going down there to help with the feed and water. We only had Lani when we moved (was out of state for a very short while). Shortly after we came back and settled in central Tx (she's on the coast) is when she called me and told me I needed to come get ReaRea and raise her......And the rest as they say is "history".... I have TONS of pics of her birds in the forums in various places. I think the day I finally earned her respect is the day I was in her house and the front door was open, a Scarlet (a VERY MEAN one) was loose and I approached him. I knew it was always an "at your own risk" when visiting there (she also had 2 VERY protective pit bulls as protection for her flock and I passed the "sniff and pet" test). Anyway, I approached the Scarlet and startled him an he headed for the open front door, I proceeded to quickly snatch him up and BOY did I pay for it!!! :54:

He shredded both my arms to pieces and there was blood everywhere.... After getting him put up, she started laughing uncontrollably......I looked at her wondering WTH?!?!?

Smugly she replies, "his wings are clipped, don't know why you made such a fuss of it" I'm pretty sure I earned her respect that day.

no stitches, my arms are so scarred up it's ridiculous as it was. Yea, still in contact but not much, she's dealing with some heavy family stuff right now.

AAWW...that's too bad! I truly hope all works out for her.

And darnit, I should NOT have asked anyways because once my piggy bank is full, I was wanting to look into a GW rescue. I only have one requirement. The GW MUST be male.

Once I have my funds (in about a year ) I'll actively start looking.

But hey...one can dream, right? And seeing those baby pictures and those magnificent parents....just...WOW WOW WOW + plenty of drool. :32:

Those parents look mighty fine...and of course I"ve seen plenty of pics of ReaRea and Miri and know how GORGEOUS they are. Does she sex them???? ....just asking....:54:

yea, all of them are tested very early, she also keeps a journal of all her babies that she passes on to the new owners. It contains daily feeding amounts, what they're fed and weight. A cool thing she does is give them a stuffed toy as well. ReaRea's was a shark that she slept on as a baby. I got pics of that somewhere too.
