Sprite the cinnamon green cheek conure.
Sprite refuses to eat vegetables...any kind!! He does love all fruits but I know he needs his vegetables too! In my birdie cookbook, a lot of the recipes call for baby food. I decided to buy baby food and give it to Sprite, plain! And he loves it! I've gotten him a raisin, banana and mango kind, a banana mango and carrot kind, and a sweet carrot kind. Sprite has surprisingly liked the sweet carrot flavor which is AWESOME because the ingredients are carrots and water! Next im going to try getting him some green vegetable flavors :p Hope he likes them!!!
Has anyone else tried this with their parrots? If your parrots don't eat vegetables I think this is an awesome way to get some vegetables in 'em!!

Mine are like yours. They love fruits, nuts, and maybe one or two veggies. I'll have to give the baby food a try. I was going to try making some rolled oats and mixing some veggies in. Of course, they'll probably pick them out and throw them to the dogs. :)

Not surprising your Sprite likes baby food. Before the hand feeding formulas that are available today baby food was the main ingrediant along with monkey chow and a few other things used when making up a formula to feed our baby birds. Today we just have to add water to instant baby food and food for our babies is ready to be fed.

I've been putting some of Pepper's pellets in sweet potatoes baby food! She likes it, not all of the time, but enough for me to try a few other kinds!

I started out with baby food mixed with crumbled corn bread. I have since learned to make my own mashes. I purchase fresh, organic veggies and cook for a short while. Then I put them through the food processor. At that point you have fresh baby food consistency goodies. I then mix that with bird healthy food that I have cooked like in the Higgins mixes for birds. That will add the grains and other necessities. It makes quite a bit so I freeze them in small containers. I will cut up kale or other greens and add to the mix. It is a fantastic way to get the veggies in them.

The veggies I use are usually carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes and more.
Good idea, thanks!! We have two huge gardens and they are totally organic/natural/no pesticides so if I use those it'll be awesome for Sprite!!! Definitely trying this

I didn't knwo that we could give our parrots baby food. Thanks for posting this. I think I will add this in the list to increase variety to their diet, especially since they are not big fans of veggie.
