Well, as many of you probably know, I have an 8 week old baby Cockatiel. I just weaned him onto regular solid food, and when he's about to fall asleep, he screams really loud, like he's crying. It's a low pitched scream, not a "whistle" scream.

He's even done this with a very full crop, so I don't think it's from hunger. Then he beak grinds, and then falls asleep right afterwards. He does this right before bedtime each night. The screaming doesn't bother me. I was just wondering what the explanation could be. Is it a "crying" because he's tired and cranky?

He usually does this on my shoulder. Putting him "to bed" with a sheet over his cage at that time helps. However, I only do that right before bed time. Normally when he does this during the day, he'll just fall asleep on me since he's out of his cage much of the time.

Again, I don't think its from hunger because he LOVES to eat, and he eats very often, especially with us. I eat with him at meal times.
