well i saw the post on here on how much you pay for your Zon. So i would like to make with forum on the Macaws. Gave us something to talk about. so ill start i paid 2,027.65 when he was 6 months over in Indiana :red:

i dont have a macaw, but I've seen them for 1-2 thousand, and hyacinths up to 20k. There was this one breeder in florida who breeds emerald macaws (hyacinth x military). supposedly they were the cream of the crop or something and he sold them for 40,00 ! i think thats a little crazy lol.

a hyacinths around here is 10k. then for a breeding pair is like 20k or 25k. but i didnt not know there was a emerald macaws i really didnt think they would breed them two but man they are crazy cool. lol. but thinks for with sharing. now im have to research all the macaws to hybird in see what they have. Or if you know a link i can try

Hmm... so is this thread about making people feel bad about paying too much? Or perhaps it's intended to make others feel fortunate about getting a great buy? I've found that prices tend to range widely for any particular species.

Personally, I think prices for these guys vary to a great extent because there are a number of different sources for acquiring them. There are retail prices (for birds from breeders or from pet stores) and then there are rescue adoption fee prices for previously owned birds, and still other prices for privately sold birds.

Some people even acquire their Macaws free of charge from friends or acquaintances. Like my GW, for example. I adopted him because of a promise I made to his owner who was a dearly loved friend of mine who sadly passed away in May.

Like I said in the last thread. I will never be able to afford a macaw. Maybe one day. I just love the large parrots. Macaw's are very rare where I live. Esp pure ones. I saw a hybrid for $6,000. I think it was a B and G x with a military.

I seen this topic and just had to join, I paid $30 for my 12 year old blue and gold macaw Oliver at a bird rescue here in Michigan. He came with his huge kings cage and all of his toys and food, I would highly recommend them my Oliver is a fantastic bird. If anyone wants their website or email adress, comment or message me and I'll let you know

It very much depends on where you live... In Australia Macaws are expensive, but Cockatoos are cheap... Being an international forum, it's really difficult to compare prices...

Scarlets are about $15000-$20000

Hyacinth was $48000-$52000 last time one was sold. To my knowledge, four have been sold in the past 6 years.

The most expensive macaw ever in Australia is a lutino Blue and Gold, which was about... $100k I think?

$750 for a red front???? that's half the price I paid lol- it was well worth it though. Is this in the States?

$0~ Remington belonged to a friend's sister and brother in law, he came with 2 xl cages and a playstand, we did need to rent a cargo van and drive 4 hours to get him though

Hi Alisana,
Where were you getting your hahns? If it is this season you could get a handraised sibling to my guy for the low end of that price range.
Elroy is a fantastic little guy and has already learnt a few words and to spin on command :) He is so clever and came from the breeder so well so******ed.

I could not be happier with his breeder. PM me if you want more details but seeing that you are in Brisbane/Gold Coast region you will probably be looking at the same breeder ;)
