So I wanted to share videos, stories, pictures, etc. of Mushka But I didn't want to clutter the forums or other peoples posts. I have seen several great posts from others on the forum that consolidated everything so it looked like a good idea. I doubt it will be as entertaining as those, but I would love to give it a shot. So to start here are a couple of time waster videos, both safe for work.

Every night for about thirty minutes to an hour Mushka loves head scritches. She is almost always open to them but if she doesn't get them right before bed there is gonna be trouble.

On the other end of the day, Mushka always chatters nonstop in the mornings. She honestly chatters all the time but mornings are always entertaining. I spent about a month going to see her daily before I got her and she had only said "Hello" and "Mushka". I was pleasantly surprised when she got home and talks all the time.

Creating a "master thread" for Mushka is a great idea! She is certainly a well adjusted and bonded bird!

nice, wondering if ALL greys like head scratches for that long prior to bed time, Enzo does but I try to limit to a few minutes to avoid more broodiness. I always giggle when I stop scratching her as she will grab one of fingers with her beak and pull it towards her by turning her head to one side.
I should do an Enzo thread too, both the good and the bad!

Perjo will let me scratch her head for an hour before bed if I wanted to. Love these videos of people's Greys. How does she respond when you play guitar?

I think you'll find that having a home thread is a lot of fun ! Mushka certainly hit the jackpot with you. Does she like being scratched against the grain of feathers? Salty LOVES LOVES LOVES that.

I would like an Enzo thread, from what I have read on other posts she sounds like a trip. Mushka drags my hand around too, Does Enzo constantly try to shove toys in your face too? We should compare notes lol.

Surprisingly Muska loves the guitar, never spooked her. The vacuum never spooked her either but the new training perch is apparently evil, been two weeks and she still hates it. Back on subject, Mushka seems to enjoy music a lot. She will sing along (usually her own tune) and dance when I play, and she loves to come to band practice when it's warm enough. She loves to dance with my daughter. Especially to some god awful "Cake" song. She also sings and whistles her own songs she learned at some point. I'll eventually get some on film.

Yes Mushka loves being scratched against the grain of her feathers. Honestly I was being more gentle then what she usually likes. She has some new feathers coming in and if they were sore I didn't really want to scratch hard.

And here is another time waster video, Mushka likes to see herself in the camera.

Mushka makes some really cute sounds and words. I like her sneezing! I wouldn't be surprised if she starts saying "God Bless you". I wonder if you play a riff over and over a lot, that she would;t copy it. That would be cool. I see an accoustic in the back ground - what kind of stuff do you play? I'm a fiddle player. Guitar too, but mostly fiddle.

She might pick something up, she has a tendency to go nuts dancing and singing when I play though so I'm not sure if she really listens. I'll start trying to play something everyone would recognize though. Maybe Crazy Train. Here is a vid of my band to give you an idea of the stuff we play. 3D Monocle
We recently had a lineup change so it's a bit dated and we are going more hard rock currently.

Back to the Mushka, she and I were watching parrot videos and we saw bigfellasdad's video of Enzo's fancy drinking Link to Enzo and Mushka loved it. I got home from work today and my daughter said Mushka learned a new trick:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBM8dFAgv3w"]Mushka tries and fails at being Posh[/ame]

Apperently Mushka thinks Enzo is the bomb, but to be honest she isn't nearly as Posh as Enzo lol. She loves water bottle caps and dunking her food in her water but this was a first.

Hahaha. These birds are awesome. 4th most intelligent animals after humans don't you know. Maybe we should start an African grey training channel where they train other greys and humans too.

Same w/ Levi, we have a ritual nighttime cuddle, scratch, love routine every night for an hour + before bedtime. If I'm busy he starts calling to let me know it's his time ... Ha :) He especially loves his cheeks & neck scratched/rubbed.

LOL..classy Mushka, drinking from her "glass" instead of being crude and drinking from her bowl..so cute!
Ya fersure she deserves her own thread!

That's cool !!! Parrots can see video, and learn from watching them. Salty's favorites are Indian ring necks, for learning words and phrases, them and other amazons. And parrots are smart enough to come up with their own stuff.

I am gonna try your idea with the bottle cap with Salty, be a good way to get fruit juice into him. Bravo, Mushka.

Happy New Year everybody!

So New years eve brought fireworks and Mushka was not a fan. So we played with my new yoyo from Santa and wrestled a bit until she calmed back down and could go to bed. Just another time waster video but the last bit shows how well bite pressure training is going. She gets pretty excited and it is rare we have to call time out to let her calm down at this point. She still wants to eat my dog though. Later this week I'm going to start posting some of her training videos so that should be fun.

They’re so very intelligent! Learning bite pressure training is the way to go with our greys. I’m thankful for it! They learn well and understand.

I wish I could take credit for the training but Mushka picks up everything easy. The only time consuming part is getting he desensitized to things, once she is comfortable around something training seems like an afterthought. Ten days to get used to a chopstick, 2 days to get the gist of target training.

I was initially concerned about getting a larger, re-homed, aggressive parrot but Mushka has been a dream parrot. I see all these dedicated wonderful people spending months trying to form bonds with their birds and I realize just how lucky I got.

So I am a bit late posting a training video but it's been crazy around here. This is Mushka's second target training session, unfortunately the first one was in the morning and got washed out by the sun and not worth viewing. It's interesting to look back and see how well she is doing compared to those first sessions. Also all the mistakes I made, I still make mistakes but they are fewer and farther between them.

At around 5:20 of the video whats happening starts to click with Mushka. She intentionally doesn't touch the target stick to see what I do, then immediately touches the stick on the next time I present it. She often does this when we are trying something new, you can see the wheels turning like "Oh that's what he wants."

Just another video of Mush chatting away. One of these days I'm gonna edit these together to get a mega Mooshie talking video.

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnVidHBU2Ns&t=6s"]That's how it is.[/ame]

Moshka loves the camera ! SUch a clear voice, you can easily tell who she is impersonating. SMart and cute and sweet.... what a nice birdy. `

About the Fireworks. We shoot a lot in the warmer months at our cabin.
Therefore, I purposely desensitized Levi. Every time we get a package delivered I give my son the bubble wrap or air bags to pop. I throw them on then floor & he stomps on it, and we hoot & howl & cheer as he does it. Now every time Levi hears a loud popping sounds he makes a celebratory sound. :D

PS) I enjoy your Videos VM :)
