You have got to be kidding....

Pay it forward. That is what I like about this Forum I have read other forums and thought NO WAY will I post. Even though at the start i had 100000000000 of questions. I admitted I knew zero about birds. I just wanted to help this one.
If someone on this forum said I did wrong they also posted what I did correct. Never once told You need to give it up or made to feel stupid. There is a difference between ignorance and stupidity . I was totally Ignorant
Sad that some forums / groups do more harm then good. My hat is off to anyone who works at a rescue. I doubt I could do it.

Everything I do in the rescue world is for the sake of the animals. I absolutely love it. All the loss, long hours, terrible stories, ignorant people...it is all worth it every time an animal finds a new family or is released back into the wild.

Mos definitely inaccurate. Human nature and what nature imposes on itself is what creates people that suck.

Ha ha ha....Well if you say so.....a 4 billion dollar industry can't be wrong right? Got an owieeee..take this, have a head ache take that...yep if you say so.

Spoken like a person who's never had a serious illness and actually needed medication. Try that one on an asthmatic or diabetic or a zillion other illnesses.

On the contrary....My wife and I had a serious head on collision, seat belt broke, and darn near went thru windshield. They give me a pain killer cocktail of all sorts of meds and send me back to work. With a concussion, broken wrist, broken shoulder, 3 blown disc in neck, and one in back. And here I was working on so much meds that it masked everything. And ER missed the concussion, broken wrist and everything.
Many of the meds they put me counter each other and nearly had a heart attack...it wasn't until I sought out another doctor when he noticed " hey hey hey...what are they doing here"...these in this order will kill you let alone put you in a zombie state.

I filed Malpractice against the hospital and drug companies...and won. That was years ago. But those horror stories happen daily.

Care to comment now???

Hawk...Karen....you both have valid points and to a degree you are both right. Medicine is over perscribed in this country. Yet not available to those who need it. It all depends on the type of medicine.

My one month supply of muscle relaxers I got in Oct still has a weeks worth left. My doctor said I cant have anymore even though I have proved I dont abuse them. My inhaler yeah I use that more frequently.

A few years ago I sprained my ankle so bad I could barely work. Severe pai n. Couldn't get even 3 days of strong pain reliever.

It's way over prescribed, and most of the time NOT monitored correctly
for effects and analysis.
I was given a pain killer cocktail ( I kid you not, the sheet would have filled an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper...it shocked attorneys and other surgeons. Powerful stuff)
After a serious head on collision I was given these and sent back to work 2 weeks later, working with broken collar bone, broken wrist, 3 blown disc's in neck, broken shoulder...and I didn't feel a thing because of the hoard of painkillers they said to take...I nearly died from it...Long story short...there was a huge Malpractice suit, against Hospital and drug companies. Doctors here prescribe anything, and do not check what the other doctor may have given, or the surgeon may have given, or their P.A. may have given...

So yeah I'll be the first to tell you that....

It's genuinely sad how people treat animals. I'll never understand the ability to look at an animal and say, "I don't want to deal with you, so you can just disappear from my sight".

At our local rescue we have two macaws that they're concerned about because of naive neglect. Not knowing how to care for something can be just as dangerous and cruel as choosing to abuse an animal. It may be accidental, and to a degree is more forgivable, but I don't understand how individuals can choose to NOT know in this day and age. Not knowing is a choice, and claiming naivety can be akin to shirking responsibility in my books.

As for the off topic portion... my boyfriend NEEDS medication. Last thing I want is for him to disappear from this earth because people think poorly of prescribed medicine :(.

I would never think poorly prescribed medication, it's when they prescribe the wrong medication ( Mobic, percoset, Norco ( which I'm allergic to) and oxycodone all at once and they don't cross check the affects yet tell you to take them all....That'll kill you as it nearly did me by doctors not paying attention. They had the wrong stuff in surgery when they were taking the bone out of my wrist ..I woke up and was looking at surgeon...taking the bone out of my arm and putting it in my wrist. Not fun.

Animal abuse is everywhere. I was walking by the river and there was a hawk shot and strung up to the barbwire fence by it's wings. Someone clipped the feet for it's claws. Sad, it hurt me to see that and gave the Hawk a proper burial.
There was a kid that kept throwing this little puppy into the street while the uncle filmed it...poor dog nearly got hit by a car. The kid was young...but the uncle??? let him do that??? And film it? I'm speechless.

Kudos to you. I've never worked rescue on a scale like that, volunteered a couple times, just for a few days to give those that do the main care a break and vacation....My wife's a former vet. All to often she has some
horror stories of someone bringing in an abused animal to be saved, and all to often they don't make it.
It's heart breaking...it really is.

Hey all. As a moderator one of my duties here on this forum is to ensure that threads don't get too far off track from the original topic. This one has rather persistently done so. There is nothing necessarily wrong with the whole "merits of medication debate" in and of itself... this thread is just the wrong place for it.

The thread seems to have weaved back on topic the last post or two. Let's try and keep it there, hey?

Soooooo... for any who have lost score, topic is rescues, their horror stories, and the saints who work them. One, two, three... GO!
