hE SEEMS TO ONLY LIKE MY LEATHER CHAIRS! tHANKS:blue1:
(ps HE HAS PLEANTY FROM THE PET STORE, HE DOES NOT LIKE?! HE WANTS STUFF THATS MINE, ARE PLASTIC BOTTLES OK FOR HIM TO DESTROY:blue1:?)

As long as he's not eating the plastic it's fine, prefer not giving them the opportunity. Get some baby wood blocks and use food color to dye them. Otherwise if you can go to bird fair, they have lots of good toys available.

To help with the costs of toys, you can make your own. I even bought some boards of untreated pine at lowes and had my hubby cut them into blocks and drill holes. Then colored with koolaid mix. (without the sugar). I would worry about the plastic bottle potentially getting sharp edges while playing. For buying toys, I like mysafebirdstore.com

My fids favorite toys are also the ones I make. Mine also love empty paper towel and tp rolls. I try to get creative and cut a bunch up and put yarn around them and my fids love them. Although I don't have a Macaw. A Macaw's beak would probably go through them pretty fast. But my CAG can play with one for quite a while. It is sometimes tricky finding things they really like to keep them entertained. Good Luck!

Attack of the caps lock!!! My Macaw likes soft wooden blocks to chew up mostly. I bought her some from mysafebirdstore.com and made my own toys. They also have toys and toy parts with leather.

You can play with his new toys in front of him to make him more interested in them. That way he thinks they are really yours :D

Theres a lot of great stuff you can make and some awesome ideas in the do it yourself forum. My cag adores anything cardboard to tear apart. We even have some leather strips,in the cages they chew up too. They really are like 2 year olds. Give them a toy and they would much rather have the box it came in! You would be surprised at tbe things around your house that would make great toys... straws, anything cardboard, paper, shower curtain rings, and sooo much more.

You can start with encouraging foraging by wrapping nuts and treats in paper and work up to more challenging toys. This teaches them to work and play on their own when you aren't home. There are great examples of how to make them on youtube. Make sure that you know what woods you have before giving it to your bird. Acyrilic toys are expensive, but last forever and are colorful. Most birds will chew wood that isn't colored and this reduces chemicals from entering your pet. Experiment with materials such as vegetable tanned leather, stainless steel chains and sisel rope to see which your bird enjoys. Make sure to use a variety of types of toys, grooming, foraging, destruction (wood blocks ect) and rotate them in your cage to keep interest. Ebay can be a great resource but make sure it is a trusted seller. Have fun making them and keep variety, its the spice of life!

Since the macaw seems interested in leather chairs, perhaps you can find some bird-safe leather (vegetable tanned?) and make toys from that. My macaw loves all sorts of toys, chews leather, destroys soft pine, attacks various bird-safe metals.

But since yours has shown a liking for leather, why don't you start there?

We buy baby toys from garage sales. Mardy loves them. She chews them up. I've never seen her attempt to eat a piece off of them. Same with the wooden toys. She chews them up and spits them out.
