yeast will not go....

Sprinkles will be on his 3rd round for a yeast infection. When I first got him he also have Bactieral infection but that cleared up fast. This Yeast will not go away they did the stool test and there is less of it but it is still there.

What can I do or feed him to help with this? He is on Zupreem as his main diet. He gets some berries and nuts and Safflower seeds as a treat only.

The yeast could be settled in his pellets. I would suggest throwing out the bag and getting a new one (my vet has advised this for stubborn infections in my flock)

Also if you can get him on more fresh foods, sprinkle oregano, cinnamon, and ginger on the fresh food to help combat infection safely without compromising the work of the medications.

Also, keep the dry foods Frozen until needed will help.

Do a major cleaning of everything Parrot.

Having lost a budgie to Avian Gastric Yeast 3 years ago I understand what you are going through and am so sorry this is happening. We tried everything known to man to get rid of the stuff but treatment was just not effective. It included herbal medicine also. Is your bird loosing weight? Over time the yeast takes over and the nutrients are just not absorbed any more. I wish I had more positive news for you. Sometimes the test on crop and droppings were clear and other times not. It goes back and forth so it is very difficult to tell if the yeast is totally gone or will continue to grow. Make sure and do not feed anything with sugar or honey because the yeast grows more with the addition of these two food items.
An acidic environment will retard the growth but not get rid of the stuff.

Thanks guys. I did a big cage cleaning both times before starting the meds. It might be the food. I will keep it in the fridge from now on. I will clean all perches again.

He acts fine has put on weight too. He shows no symptoms now. I guess this time there was less yeast in the poop than last time. It's just not gone yet. Dr does not seem to concered like she was when I first brought him in. He was really sick when I first got him. He was from PetCo.

It is so annoying. He is a year old still young. I will dump his old food get some new food and keep it in the fridge.

Yeast is not necessarily passed to a bird in the food. My avian vet said most of the time it is the parents of the bird that carry the yeast and pass on to the chicks. The breeder of my birds takes precautions for this very thing by including ACV (apple cider vinegar) and a pro biotic in the feedings after birth.
