worrying behaviour???

so for the last couple of days i have had oxy's cage out in the lounge room. the only time during the day he is locked in there is when the cat is inside and is hunting/ playful mode. (i cant move fast enough due to an injury and it is only for about an hour). other then that he has free rome untill about 6.30/7.00pm when kitty comes inside for his dinner.

in one corner of his cage he has a preening rope perch thing that he sleeps on every night.

i have noticed the last couple of days when i put in for the night he aggresively pulls at it, aggresively chews on other toys and clambers all over his cage.

tonight i went to give him a head scratch and he immediately steped up onto my finger wanting out.

he never used to do this, but his cage was in a room on its own with the dor closed.

i think he just wants out cause he can see us. he has plenty of toys in his cage.

i dont believe the cat is tge problem cause during the day he is fine, if not curious and will climb lower in his cage for a better view.

i guess what im worried about is, could this behaviour progress to plucking???

i have moved his cage out of his room as it has gotten hot here and there is not much circulation in his room if the door is closed and there is no breeze (his cage going in there tonight, we finally got some cooler weather and rain), so i have had his cage in my room with the a/c.

im going to try putting his towel over his cage to see if he settles.

sorry if this is long and i rambled, but i dont want him to start plucking his beautiful feathers.

FYI he is a 4.5month old alex........thanks in advance for your opinion

well i think i figured out the problem.....
i tried covering him and that didnt help, i took him out but took him a while to step up. when he was out he seemed frustrated and was too fluttery so i had to put him back in
after some thought i realised he was like it last night too, last night once my dinner was finished cooking (had to put him away while i was cooking last night) and he came and had his share he went to bed fine.
once i gave him some of my dinner (some pasta tonight) through his cage he gas settled nicely and has an occasional quiet chatter. so i guess i need to have mydinner befire i put him away for the night.

not like he is starving... he eats so much, it seems im constantly filling his fresh food bowl.

Another issue you might want to address is the place he sleeps. I have placed some flat wood boards in place of the old branch perches my Hahn's used to sleep on. My vet told me that he will develop arthritis as he ages unless given flat boards to move around on. So now in the cage he has two 1x4's on different levels, and another on his tree stand he plays on while outside of his cage.
