wings clipped

tik, was having his freedom, so i took him and got his wings clipped and nails clipped, now he hardly looks at me, he wants to stay in his cage, how long is he going to hold this grudge against me, he seems to be depressed,and will he come out of it soon, should i just ingore him and see if he comes around or continue to pick him up against his will and make him interact with me?

I've never found mine to bear a grudge. Be careful that you aren't expecting him to and projecting an expectation of it... they do read our moods pretty well. If he doesn't get out and about very often, he may just be a bit tired from the adventure.

ty, he will sit on my shoulders, but now i have to put him there, as before he would just hop on, i will see how he does in the next few days, but he has been pretty quiet this last day, and yes i did have to take him across town, which meant putting him a smaller cage to transport him, he isn't willing to come out on his own, so i will just leave the cage door open and let him decide to interact with me, we where doing fine before the clipping and nail cuts.

In my experience you shouldn't really get wings and nails done at the same time, it causes them to lose too much balance so they become unsure of their ability in a way. Just give him time to adjust to the change and I'm sure he'll come around!

Hey emsbear,

When I got Molly, just over a year ago, she was a baby. Upon learning to fly Molly would fly to the top of the book case and to the top of my desk which has a 2" gap between it and the wall (no way to make it flush). I had her wings cut because I was so concerned for her safety. Anyway, looking back I recall that Molly seemed to listen a bit more and was a bit more calm.

Now a year later Molly had just completed her first full molt. Molly would again fly around and she seemed so happy and was simply beautiful while in flight. Well eight days from now we will be driving to AZ to permanently relocate. Because of the long drive and the safety issues involved with the travel and lodging, I had Molly's wings cut again. I feel so bad but I know I did it for the right reason. Anyway, Molly is a little quieter and certainly more hesitant about every move but no other changes are visible but that could be because we have Cody here also.

Additionally, I agree with Akraya that wings and nails should not be done at the same time due to the imbalance and unsure footing.

thank u for the advise i will remember this next time to get done separately, the reason being, is i do alot of home sewing and he knew which room i would be in, and i didn't want him to get caught in any of my sewing projects, and yes it did seem to calm him down, but i didn't mean to put the scare in the poor little guy, he doesn't even want to dance for me, or sing, so i will give him sometime, hopefully he will come around.
