How great would that be to see these birds in your own garden every morning. Heck I'd never get any work done.

Its amazing what we take for granted every day round here in Oz.
I see hundreds of my boy each day on the way into work.
All I have to do is leave out some wild bird seed and few hundred Rosellas turn up.
They stay as long as you keep feeding them.
I have some pix maybe.

I have millions of these pix from our back yard if anyone had an interest.

Oh blimey, Red yes get them posted. I for one would love to see them. There are a few (a very few) small pockets of wild parrots round here now, that have either escaped or been let go but we don't see them everyday.

The old lady next door gets upset if I feed them coz they eat her grapes off the vine.
you cant touch them, but you can walk right up to them as you can see.

Spare room with a view available to those with the right attitude and Australian Dollars.

For those sorts of views everyday I'll take that room with a view.

Looks like lorrikeets to me.

I can't understand anyone getting upset with these in their garden. Blimey I'd grow grapes specially for them and have loads of feeders out in the garden just for a glimpse of them.

Does it show that I'm not used to seeing sights like these

omg i agree with you Peta! i would grow all the fruit in the world just so they would stay!

Yup looks like rainbow lorikeets to me.

Have been thinking about this and we don't seem to have many lorrikeets here at all. The only one I've seen was at bird world last year, and he wasn't for sale , although he had been a pet at one time. I'm now gonna go do a search and see how many I can find here.

Well cast a net in my backyard.
They seem to hang around in pairs.
How can I get them to nest in my yard?
just bird boxes in the trees?
Coz I put one up.
Actually,... as I type,...an idea is forming.
Follow me on this will ya?
I put up bird boxes.
Rainbow Lorrakeets nest in the trees in my yard.
By some quirk of fate, I rescue the chix/eggs and take over from day one as dad. Then I let them stay in nesting boxes, Wild/hand tamed flying free in my yard and eating next doors grapes off the vine.
I repeat the "accident" a few seasons in a row.
Then rent out my spare room to you saps and unreasonable amout per night.
Are we on a winner yet?
Is any of the above possible?
Man its really smokey in here isnt it?

Tell ya what, Leave the chicks for ma & pa to raise and I'll double what anyone else is willing to pay for the room, I'd love to sit and watch them feed and raise their young in the wild. What a brilliant sight that would be. I'd never leave that room I can tell ya.

How do I convince them to nest and stay rather than just eat and run?
