Why we love this forum.

Hello everyone, this is quite off topic but I feel if this has not been done, it should be. I wanted to ask everyone why they love this forum? Is it the people, fast replies? Or even the cool POTMs (Photo of then month).

For me personally I suppose I love everyone. The amazing, kind people here are always have their arms open, and round their best to help you with whatever problem you have. They have much experience, and will give you the best advice. And this forum is very clean, so it's greats for even younger bird lovers. And plus, the little smiley are SUPER fun to play with!

Because NON-BIRD PEOPLE just roll their eyes when you bring up any of this stuff...

Bird people are "different." (Mom says we're just "special" ) Non-bird people, you cold talk til you turned purple and they still wouldn't get it. They'd just roll their eyes, and change the topic of conversation...

Right now, without this forum to turn to, and with Maggie out there lost... I honestly don't know how I'd cope.

I've been on a few bird forums and this one has to be my favorite. The people are great, the advice is awesome and most of all I love all the friends I have made here! I love the fact we can all understand each other and we all totally "get" what it means to be a bird owner! We all have something very special in common. We love our fids! This forum is an extension of our fid family! :smile015:

And Mark is right, non-bird people just don't get it. I've had many of friends act like they are listening but you can tell they could give a freak! LOL! They love hearing about all the fun antics that go on, but most of the other stuff they don't get or even want to understand. I'm sure I'm the crazy bird later to some! But I take that title with great pleasure!

There is definitely a community vibe on this forum. You see people talk to each other like close friends, rather than just spewing out information. Like others mentioned, it's nice to be able to talk about a passion with people who share a similar passion. Other people don't get it, but that's fair because when other people talk about their interests, I find myself wanting to talk about my animals.

Vibe is the word IMHO! There is a shared passion that is almost totally focused on avian species. (many of us have other pets, and there is a place for those discussions) While there is an O/T section as well, thankfully the most divisive topics are not given traction here, and that is a good thing!!

I love to talk about my Fids. The people that I work with are at best mildly interested and at worst want to make fun of me and mine.
It's nice to be accepted and understood.

I love this forum,your never judged,everyone listens and try's to help.we make each other laugh and lend a shoulder to cry on.
When my doolie died...a family member actually said 'geez are you still upset over your bird' but this forum let me vent and cry and share.

For me ... the information and knowledge, great reading
I get to talk about my girl & no one is looking at me like I'm crazy.
Everyone else is "over" hearing about her latest antics, don't want to help me figure things out etc. looking at all of my pics and videos that I force on them lol

The information contained in this forum coupled with the ability to ask questions (even dumb ones) and get feedback greatly reduces the learning curve for a new parront like me.

I also want to give a shout out to the admin and mods. This is one of the best managed site I have ever been a part of. I have broke a few rules, all accidentally, and you don't get attacked.

This site seems to have the ability to deal with stupidity in a way that drives the point home without being demeaning. That is pretty rare on the Internet.
