I would say that's rather small, and you should read up on what materials are toxic to birds, certain metals are really not good for them.

There's many other resources out there for things that are potentially toxic or harmful.

Birds will chew ANYTHING. You also have to be concerned with the mesh because you don't want his tiny feet getting stuck. Wrought Iron or Powder coated metal is really best. Not to mention rust, and bird droppings seem to eat through almost anything. Remember, if you're building it yourself, you're building it for a parrot. You're not building a chicken coop.

If you want a "proper" cage, be prepared to spend upwards of $400.

There are some nice Conure/smaller size parrot cages on amazon for around 150$. I got one of there for that and my RTC loves it, and it has a play station on top of it. I would do this rather than build my own and possibly poison my bird, or make it so he could escape, etc.

This statement of yours was in reference to someone commenting on the $100 price tag of the Sun Conure you were going to purchase. It also leads me to believe to were going to buy this bird without having ever interacted with it or seen it first hand. Additionally, having read all the posts here I feel that you are not properly preparing to bring home a active/destructive parrot. They COST MONEY! You should not attempt to put them into a wood cage. You cannot cut corners in order to try to save money. Birds are expensive!

Sorry if I come off cruel or mean but I don't feel at this time you are equipped to take on a parrot!

I did see it, but at the local Petsmart the price tag had mostly faded off till I could only see S, U, E, .0, and a few parts of the other letters.

Also, the wood I only asked because I thought if it was alright, it would look amazing. Of course I won't do it now that I know it's wrong...
