Willow - Blue and Gold Macaw
I really have my heart set on getting a Red Fronted Macaw but I'm open to to other macaws..I just really like the size of the RFM but I really don't know to much about the personality of it. What do you guys think is the most laid, not to needy, and likes to be cuddle or pet every now and then.

From what I have read and heard the green wing is the gentle giant of the bunch which is really sweet and smart but then again I have heard that about the B&G..Then I was thinking of getting a hybrid a harlequin so I could get the best of both worlds?

My daughter wife and daughter wants a green wing but I want to research more..Here is a pic of my daughter at my son's pirate parrot birthday party of the green wing she fell in love with..haha

I have to admit, I've fallen in love with several Green Wings myself! I was just always worried about getting one due to their long life span. Should I see on older one looking for a home though, it will probably come home with me!

I know a few people with B&Gs and they seem like wonderful birds as well.

You might want to call some breeders and ask questions to help you narrow your choice. Or go visit breeders and just buy the one that seems to fall in love with you and your family.

i think hyacinths are just amazing, they are my ultimate dream bird, along with the black palm cockatoo! i also like harlequins, another hybrid is the caloshua macaws, its a BG hyacinth hybrid

Crazy!! I have never heard of a caloshua macaws..I'm not to worried about the life span I'm in my early 30's and hopefully my kids would take it in the event..I don't know I'm going to just wait and think about it. I really like the greenwing but just scared of space it will need and the red fronted seems more manageable to me but not sure of its personality.

A Green Wing is my dream bird, but I'm in my 40s now, and have no children. Of course, yes, we never know when the inevitable will come. Should I go before my birds and other animals, it is possible they could end up in rescues. I sure hate to think about that though.

Well I'm in my mid-50's with a bad ticker so I take nothing to chance. I have both of my birds in my will. In the case that my wife and I go together, I have someone else designated to care for my birds. They will be charged with finding good homes for the birds (WITH NO REHOMING FEE), but will be rquired to do a home inspection to who ever decides to adopt them.
