So, My little lovable tiel has a new nickname. She's my little "chicken mcnugget" haha

She smells like mcdonald's chicken nuggets! MMmmmm

Any other interesting smelling bird companions out there?

Noah can get pretty stinky if he doesn't bathe at least once a week. He gets this "aromatic", musky, broccoli and asparagus smell to him, or at least his head. Eww, and when the budgies were being brats and refused to bathe, it smelled disgusting in the aviary. Budgies have this sweet smell to them, and when I walked into their aviary the one day, it was overpowering. There was this heavy, sickeningly sweet smell in there, and I started to get a headache it was so bad.

Hmm, my hedgehog used to smell distinctly like maple syrup, but I havent pinned down what the bird smells like yet. Its not bad, just unique.

Or when I'm feeding him fresh things, whatever he has all over his messy little feet :D

Currently Jasper smells like Mandarin's. Though its more likely because its Mandarin season where I live :)

Funny, I've smelled and sniffed my quaker many times and only catch a whiff of his food if he's eaten recently. Otherwise this bird has no smell as far as I can tell!

Bumble smells like snakes and snails and puppy dogs tails! Haha! Nah, she smells like seeds and sweetness.

'Tiels and most 'Toos smell, to me, like sun-dried clothes.

Most macaws smell like dried fruit to me.

Most Amazons, to me, smell like fresh mown grass after the sun has been on it for a while.

Those are about all the consistent smells I've noticed.

As for the Rickeybird, he smells very lightly like chocolate bar wrappers. Not the bars... the wrappers.... especially the foil ones.

My goffins smell like talcum powder.
Gonzo the BFA is flowers!
ET the TAG musky, like a macaw.
Alice the Citron like cooked oatmeal.

When wet, the odor becomes more musky

Salty either has no smell, or when he is feeling happy he releases what i call Amazon Ambrosia. To me it smells like X-mas cookies, its wonderful. You have to get close to smell it, so only a few have had the opportunity. He releases it after we play for awhile, or after a good scratching session.

:orange:Popcorn.

Oatty smells amazing...freshly bathed or not. Fresh powder and lilacs! I get my nose right up on his neck and sniff! He likes it...or at least he pretends to!

Why does everyone's bird smell wonderful and mine smells like an old bible that's been sitting in the back of a pew for 30 years? Not that it's a bad smell, but that's exactly what she smells like, an old book.

Maybe it's because she's old at heart. She has dinner at 5 and is in bed every night at 8:30 sharp like an old lady. Same routine everyday and she goes right to her cage for bedtime if I forget.

who's a bird sniffer for sure i am

Ohhh I found the bird sniffer thread!! woohoo :ROFLMAO:

I love the smell of my macaw more than any other smell I can think of- I could sniff him all day if he would let me, he has a sweet fruity type of smell that is increased significantly when he is excited, scared or startled.

I am not so fond of my cockatoos odor- he reminds me of an old box of clothes in a dusty old deserted shed.

My budgie does not really seem to have any stink to him or maybe it is because he is so little and I am more used to the large birds scent being so much stronger.

Pascal (my teeny tiny conure) sometimes has this caramel scent... something very specific and I cannot put my finger on it...!

My quaker, Lumi, smells like a chicken mcnugget most of the time!
