Parrotlet
We just got our baby parrotlet a few weeks ago. She is very happy and active….but today I noticed this black thing under her chin. i don’t have a clue what it is.
i haven’t poked at it, I’ll need help holding her, she bites …very hard. It looks solid.
any clues ? Should I worry ?
Thank you in advance

Are you sure it isnt just food or anything like that?-

Just make sure too check lol
And make sure s/he doesnt eat too much of his/er poop
I cant imagine how that got stuck on her chin. I hope she isn’t eating that! Gross. I have chickens so I know a little about birds in general,…never saw them eat poop.

Just weaned birds may try to eat their poop. My theory is that it is closer in consistency to their prior formula and is “comfort food” especially if they just had a big life change. Don’t worry…it will extinguish itself (usually). 😝

Thank you. I was wondering if this was a vitamin deficiency or something worse . Sadly, she picks through the seeds, and finds all the millet in the blend. ☠️
‘I buy really good foods….but she won’t eat any seeds much lather than millet. No fresh veggies ,..no fruit. Today, the first time in 2 weeks, she ate so,eating fresh,… a little piece of green grape !

font give up on fresh stuff! Offer spread out on a plate. We have a cute one a member has who's lives her veggies.
All my parrots love veggies and lettuces a bunch!

Yeah dont give up on veggies, its the best thing for them to eat. Try different preps, different presentation, keep trying. Let her see you eating the same veggies and enjoying them. HOT and i mean REALLY HOT peppers, parrots love them and a good introduction to veggies. CHilie, Jalapenos, Habeneros, Ghosts, all very good for them.
