HAHAHAHA Wendy.. What is this?
2gwb921.gif
Am i a cowgirl? :p Mum rode Klaatu today, just walking... She couldn't get his head to come down so i had to put his side reins on, and then she couldn't even get him to go forward  hahaha

She said she might leave him for me until he is completely broken in because she doesn't have any confidence with him :p

and Kyros.... We were just walking around helping Klaatu.. Walkd for about 10-15 minutes.. Went into a trot, did a circle.. His shoe fell off

Gah.. So annoyed... I am wondering if that is the reason he was so upset jumping the other night?

If they didn't put the shoe on properly (it was his front foot) imagine how bad that would be if he was landing on it after jumping? :/

So i have called Craig.. He better come out tomorrow and make him a new shoe -_-

Cause the shoe is completely bent and out of shape :/ Weird..

They have only been on for 5 days -_-

annnddd.. drumroll

9/10 on chemistry test.. Woooo :p Studied from 8am till 3pm non stop today... Trying to get through all the lecture slides... :)

and Strudel, i could give that a go ;) hahaha

I am sure Fargo could figure out how to work the computer :p

Well I couldn't find a smiley for a proper rider, so that rodeo thingy was the next best thing. :54:

:11: Oh Craig had better get his bottom right on out to your place and give Kyros a brand new shoe! I'm sure he will. He loves you and your horses! ;)

I hope you took pics of mum on Klaatu????

WOW girl! 9/10 on Chemistry? WO-HOOOOOT!!!

First time in a long time i have been upset/annoyed

Craig apparently can't come out until saturday.. Because he is in Victoria.....

I said you have like 50 other farrier apprentices.. They can put the shoe back on?

and he said I dunno, i will call you tomorrow night and see what i can do

Oh right..

So Kyros.. Who has such sensitive feet, and last time when he didn't have shoes he got an abscess and couldn't be ridden for 2 weeks.. Now has to go 6 days, and his hooves are going to get chipped back and so sore again

I am so angry right now... :(

If Kyros has to go 6 days without a shoe i am seriously not going to be happy...

The boys as i was brushing them-

and mum on klaatu with the side reins :/

and me on klaatu the other day.. He goes much nicer for me.. Doesn't need side reins and moves much nicer. Mum couldn't get him to do anything..

He is perfect for me

and now i am just going to be upset until Kyros is ok....

Wow. I'm pretty late to this thread! Guess it slipped under the radar. But I absolutely LOVED those videos with Nicholas and Fargo! It's amazing that Fargo can be so delicate with that uber beak of his! Lol!

Nicholas' laughter is indeed contagious! He really seems a sweet and happy boy.

And as for those pics of you and Fargo, they were beautiful! I don't know why you're so hesitant to take pics, Tab. You're far from hard on the eyes, you know.

Looking at those pics of Klaatu, I can see why people are always complimenting him. The sheen of that coat and the lean musculature beneath... wow. Just breathtaking!

And 9/10 on Chemistry?!? Sweet!

Tab, have you got an old Bastard or a hoof knife? Just watch the hoof and give it a swipe with a file or knife if you notice any uneven edges poking out. Kyros should manage for a few days without his shoe. Your main worry will be if a crack appears or if he catches an uneven section of hoof and rips a chunk out. If you can keep the hoof filed flattish (I said '-ish'), then he should be fine. Take it easy on the poor farrier: he's one bloke you don't want to get on the wrong side of!

Our Chippy's hoof is finally healing. The farrier made him a flat-bottomed steel shoe with calkins on it and that made all the difference. In the meanwhile, the Ugly Sister was lunging the foal, Reuben, and he struck her with both front feet, then whipped round and kicked her with both hind feet. She's black and blue! This is what happens when you spoil a baby horse! :D

Congratulations on your ongoing successes! So proud of you!!! I think your year off was a brilliant idea and really gave you a good rest and preparation for more study. Can't wait to hear more from you, especially about the 3Ks. :)

PS. Love to Fargo XXX

Thank you very much Stephen  hahaha I believe you owe me a PM!!

Trish, the problem is, they hot shoe them, and he uses shoes which have the ummm, i don't know what they are called.. But the shoes have 3 bits that go on the side, and on the front... and then they bang them in.. Some farriers think they are bad because they are ruining more of the hoof instead of just the nails

So, the burning gets rid of part of the hoof in those 3 parts on the side of the hoof.. Which makes it weaker..

If Kyros lived somewhere else it wouldn't be a problem, which is why he didn't have shoes before us... Cause he lived in a tiny grass paddock.. :/

But because we have such rough country, and he has sensitive hooves, they chip away VERY easily..

So those 3 spots, if he stands on a rock in the wrong place, he is going to easily break away in those sections.. :/

It has taken us 4 months to get his hooves grown nicely so he didn't have any problems

and last time he had no shoes he got an abscess.... and knowing my luck with my horses, if Kyros has to go almost a week without shoes.. It isn't going to end well..

and the worst thing is.. It is his problem hoof... The one which has the huge scar and the tearing into the hoof... Which is what always has the most problems.. So out of all four hooves.. THAT is the one that they said always needed shoeing and protection -_-

So glad Chippy is healing!!! Oh wow  Reuben has some power to him then? haha

I have never been kicked by a horse.. Have had my toes stood on many times so i could just imagine how much it would hurt having the full force hit you.. Ouch!

I sometimes wish i didn't have the year off Trish! If i had started last year i would of been halfway through the course already!!!

Only 3 more weeks left before i am 1/6 a paramedic haha

Here are some pics of Fargo yesterday, not that great, and the camera sucks but anyway hahaha

I am going to make him a new tree gym today for next to my desk!

He was sitting on my textbook, moving his head side to side, like he was saying 'no' to chemistry haha

Then he came over and squashed in to my belly

and then later that evening he was just being silly :)

One of these days, the myth about Macaws being these super aggressive, intimidating birds, will be put to rest...

Fargo demonstrates once again, how a properly socialized macaw behaves... THIS is what normal is supposed to be.

Thank you birdman!!

People who think macaws are scary need to meet ones like Fargo, it is amazing what socialising and training can do hey!!! :)

Tab, have you got an old Bastard
He does sound a bit mean, but that's no way to talk about Tab's dad! (J/K)

I think we "reap what we sow" a lot of the time. Fargo is HUGE, I know I'd be a bit scared of him, if I hadn't met one before, or seen how nice he is online. Then when you do meet someone, they pick up on your terror and then they go all "funny" and the relationship starts off all wrong....

HAHAHAH ;)

Kyros's hoof chipped away on both sides already.. He did it on the first night.. Then Craig called me last night and said he found someone who can come out tomorrow morning!!! :)

Thank goodness.. Only one more night.. His hoof is padded up with vet wrap until the morning, although he destroys that easily!

That is very true!! I guess that it was a good thing that when i first met macaws, i still didn't see them as big? So i wasn't scared from the word go, which probably has really helped with Fargo's personality!

He does pick up on people if they are scared of him though... Anyone who knows him can touch him, and the avian vets can do ANYTHING with him, he loves them..

But anyone who is scared and acts nervous as they try and pat him, he doesn't like them..

Yes, also you're young, and you're used to horses so you wouldn't tense up like "regular people"....

They had a petting zoo at the shops the other day and I was going into Target and this little girl (about 5-6, maybe, quite a big kid, not a baby) was screaming in fear at the lambs and the kid. She was absolutely terrified, crying and not wanting her mum to put her down. Obviously a city kid, never come across ANYTHING. They were teeny tiny little baby animals. I'd hate to see her come across proper-sized cow or a full-sized sheep. I think she'd drop dead of a heart attack. I'm a city person, too, but I found it very unusual that at her age she seemed to have no concept of farm animals at all.

I still tend to be a "nervous type" but I've learnt to hide it. It took me a while to learn that I was causing things, not responding to them.
