What do you use to line the bottom of your fids cage?

Shadow likes to drop her food on the floor then rummage through it, if the grate's in place she get frustrated trying to get to her food so I don't have one for her. Chicka is a real shredder so she has a grate.

Agree with Ant. The only reason I don't have great for Sky and Merry is because of Sky kind of nesting in the soft shavings and having a tendency to fall off perches. Otherwise I would use grate because it helps keep bird and bird output apart. I have heard of birds with sore feet but I think that is more a perch thing. My conures LOVE the roof of their cage even though they could easily choose to be off it and it is the same material as the grate.

Thanks for the advice - will see what I can get from the petshop :)

I always use a grate for my wrnts bird, because he's a shredder also. I use paper towels and change it often, since he also shreds boxes and that gets all stuck in the grate.
Although I have seen him every so often rip the paper towels up through the grate every so often. It's when he wants to, I guess.
